Ruth 4:7-10
Now thisH2088 was 1the custom in formerH6440 timesH6440 in IsraelH3478 concerningH5921 the redemptionH1353 and the exchangeH8545 of land to confirmH6965 anyH3605 matterH1697: a manH376 removedH8025 his sandalH5275 and gaveH5414 it to anotherH7453; and thisH2088 was the manner of attestationH8584 in IsraelH3478.
So the 2closestH1350 relativeH1350 saidH559 to BoazH1162, “BuyH7069 it for yourself.” And he removedH8025 his sandalH5275.
Then BoazH1162 saidH559 to the eldersH2205 and allH3605 the peopleH5971, “You are witnessesH5707 todayH3117 that I have boughtH7069 from the handH3027 of NaomiH5281 allH3605 that belonged to ElimelechH458 and allH3605 that belonged to ChilionH3630 and MahlonH4248.
MoreoverH1571, I have acquiredH7069 RuthH7327 the MoabitessH4125, the widowH802 of MahlonH4248, to be my wifeH802 in order to raiseH6965 up the nameH8034 of the deceasedH4191 on his inheritanceH5159, so 3that the nameH8034 of the deceasedH4191 will not be cutH3772 offH3772 from his brothersH251 or from the 4courtH8179 of his birth placeH4725; you are witnessesH5707 todayH3117.”
