Ezra 10:10-19
10Then EzraH5830 the priestH3548 stoodH6965 up and saidH559 to them, “You have beenH4603 unfaithfulH4603 and have marriedH3427 foreignH5237 wivesH802 addingH3254 to the guiltH819 of IsraelH3478. 11NowH6258 therefore, 1makeH5414 confessionH8426 to the LordH3068 GodH430 of your fathersH1 and 2doH6213 His willH7522; and 3separateH914 yourselves from the peoplesH5971 of the landH776 and from the foreignH5237 wivesH802.” 12Then allH3605 the assemblyH6951 repliedH6030 with a loudH1419 voiceH6963, “That’s rightH3653! As you have saidH1697, so it is 4our dutyH5921 to doH6213. 13But there are manyH7227 peopleH5971; it is the rainyH1653 seasonH6256 and we are not ableH3581 to standH5975 in the openH2351. NorH3808 can the taskH4399 be done in oneH259 or twoH8147 daysH3117, for we have transgressedH6586 greatlyH7235 in thisH2088 matterH1697. 14Let our leadersH8269 5representH5975 the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 and let allH3605 those in our citiesH5892 who have marriedH3427 foreignH5237 wivesH802 comeH935 at appointedH2163 timesH6256, togetherH5973 with the eldersH2205 and judgesH8199 of eachH5892 cityH5892, untilH5704 the 6fierceH2740 angerH639 of our GodH430 on accountH5704 of thisH2088 matterH1697 is turnedH7725 awayH7725 from us.” 15OnlyH389 JonathanH3083 the sonH1121 of AsahelH6214 and JahzeiahH3167 the sonH1121 of TikvahH8616 7opposedH5975 thisH2088, with MeshullamH4918 and ShabbethaiH7678 the LeviteH3881 supportingH5826 them.
16But the exilesH1121H1473 didH6213 soH3651. And 8EzraH5830 the priestH3548 selectedH914 menH376 who were headsH7218 of fathers’H1 households for each of their father’sH1 householdsH1004, allH3605 of them by nameH8034. So they 9convenedH3427 on the firstH259 dayH3117 of the tenthH6224 monthH2320 to investigateH1875 the matterH1697. 17They finishedH3615 investigating allH3605 the menH376 who had marriedH3427 foreignH5237 wivesH802 by the firstH259 dayH3117 of the firstH7223 monthH2320.
18AmongH4480 the sonsH1121 of the priestsH3548 whoH834 had marriedH3427 foreignH5237 wivesH802 were foundH4672 of the sonsH1121 of 10JeshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of JozadakH3087, and his brothersH251: MaaseiahH4641, EliezerH461, JaribH3402 and GedaliahH1436. 19They 11pledgedH5414H3027 to putH3318 awayH3318 their wivesH802, and being guiltyH818, 12they offered a ramH352 of the flockH6629 for their offenseH818.
