Mutual Delight in Each Other

1“12Where has your beloved gone, O 3most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, That we may seek him with you?”

2“4My beloved has gone down to his 5garden, To the 6beds of balsam, To 7pasture his flock in the gardens And gather 8lilies.39I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine, He who 10pastures his flock among the lilies.”

4“1112You are as beautiful as 13Tirzah, my darling, As 14lovely as 15Jerusalem, As 16awesome as 17an army with banners.5Turn your eyes away from me, For they have confused me; 18Your hair is like a flock of goats That have descended from Gilead.619Your teeth are like a flock of ewes Which have come up from their washing, All of which bear twins, And not one among them has 20lost her young.721Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate Behind your veil.8There are sixty 22queens and eighty concubines, And 2324maidens without number;9But 25my dove, my perfect one, is 26unique: She is her mother’s 27only daughter; She is the pure child of the one who bore her. The 2829maidens saw her and called her blessed, The 30queens and the concubines also, and they praised her, saying,

10‘Who is this that 31grows like the dawn, As beautiful as the full 32moon, As pure 33as the sun, As 34awesome as 35an army with banners?’11I went down to the orchard of nut trees To see the blossoms of the valley, To see whether 36the vine had budded Or the 37pomegranates had bloomed.12Before I was aware, my soul set me Over the chariots of 38my noble people.”
