Song of Songs 4

Solomon’s Love Expressed

1“12How beautiful 3you are, my darling, 4How beautiful you are! Your 5eyes are like doves 6behind your veil; Your 7hair is like a flock of goats That have descended from Mount 8Gilead.2Your 9teeth are like a flock of newly shorn ewes Which have come up from their washing, All of which bear twins, And not one among them has 10lost her young.3Your lips are like a 11scarlet thread, And your 12mouth is lovely. Your 13temples are like a slice of a pomegranate Behind your veil.4Your 14neck is like the tower of David, Built 15with rows of stones On which are 16hung a thousand shields, All the round 17shields of the mighty men.5Your 18two breasts are like two fawns, Twins of a gazelle Which 19feed among the lilies.620Until 21the cool of the day When the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of 22myrrh And to the hill of 23frankincense.

7“24You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.8Come with me from 25Lebanon, my 26bride, May you come with me from Lebanon. 27Journey down from the summit of 28Amana, From the summit of 29Senir and Hermon, From the dens of lions, From the mountains of leopards.9You have made my heart beat faster, 30my sister, my bride; You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes, With a single strand of your 31necklace.1032How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much 33better is your love than wine, And the 34fragrance of your oils Than all kinds of 35spices!11Your lips, my bride, 36drip 37honey; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the fragrance of your garments is like the 38fragrance of Lebanon.12A garden locked is my sister, my bride, A 39rock garden locked, a 40spring 41sealed up.13Your shoots are an 4243orchard of 44pomegranates With 45choice fruits, 46henna with nard plants,1447Nard and saffron, calamus and 48cinnamon, With all the trees of 49frankincense, 50Myrrh and aloes, along with all the finest 51spices.15You are a garden spring, A well of 5253fresh water, And streams flowing from Lebanon.”

16“54Awake, O north wind, And come, wind of the south; Make my 55garden breathe out fragrance, Let its 56spices 57be wafted abroad. May 58my beloved come into his garden And eat its 59choice fruits!”
