Song of Songs 5:2-8
2“1I was asleep but my heart was awake. A voice! My beloved was knocking: ‘Open to me, 2my sister, my darling, 3My dove, my perfect one! For my head is 4drenched with dew, My 5locks with the 6damp of the night.’3I have 7taken off my dress, How can I put it on again? I have 8washed my feet, How can I dirty them again?4My beloved extended his hand through the opening, And my 910feelings were aroused for him.5I arose to open to my beloved; And my hands 11dripped with myrrh, And my fingers with 12liquid myrrh, On the handles of the bolt.6I opened to my beloved, But my beloved had 13turned away and had gone! My 14heart went out to him as he 15spoke. I 16searched for him but I did not find him; I 17called him but he did not answer me.7The 18watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me, They struck me and wounded me; The guardsmen of the walls took away my shawl from me.8I 19adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, If you find my beloved, As to what you will tell him: For 20I am lovesick.”
