Song of Songs 2:2-16

“1Like a lily among the thorns, So is 2my darling among the 3maidens.”

“4Like an 5 6apple tree among the trees of the forest, So is my beloved among the 7young men. In his shade I took great delight and sat down, And his 8fruit was sweet to my 9taste.4He has 10brought me to his 11banquet hall, And his 12banner over me is love.5Sustain me with 13raisin cakes, Refresh me with 14 15apples, Because 16I am lovesick.6Let 17his left hand be under my head And 18his right hand 19embrace me.”

“20I 21adjure you, O 22daughters of Jerusalem, By the 23gazelles or by the 24hinds of the field, 25That you do not arouse or awaken my love Until 26she pleases.”

“27Listen! My beloved! Behold, he is coming, Climbing 28on the mountains, Leaping on the hills!9My beloved is like a 29gazelle or a 30young 31stag. Behold, he is standing behind our wall, He is looking through the windows, He is peering 32through the lattice.

“My beloved responded and said to me, ‘33Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along.11For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone.12The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for 34pruning the vines, And the voice of the 35turtledove has been heard in our land.13The 36fig tree has ripened its figs, And the 37vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!’”

“38O 39my dove, 40in the clefts of the 41rock, In the secret place of the steep 42pathway, Let me see your 43form, 44Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your 45form is 46lovely.”

“47 48Catch the foxes for us, The 49little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our 50vineyards are in blossom.”

“51 52My beloved is mine, and I am his; He 53pastures his flock among the lilies.
