Song of Songs 1:1-6

1The 1Song of 2Songs, which is Solomon’s.

2“3May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your 4love is better than wine.3Your 5oils have a pleasing fragrance, Your 6name is like 7purified oil; Therefore the 8 9maidens love you.4Draw me after you and let us run together! The 10king has brought me into his chambers.” “11We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will 12extol your 13love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.”

5“14I am black but 15lovely, O 16daughters of Jerusalem, Like the 17tents of 18Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon.6Do not stare at me because I am 19swarthy, For the sun has burned me. My 20mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me 21caretaker of the vineyards, But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.
