13Now beholdH2009,a prophetנָבִ֣יאna.Vi'H5030approachedנִגַּשׁ֮ni.GashH5066Ahabאַחְאָ֣ב'ach.'AvH256kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Thusכֹּ֚הkohH3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, ‘Have you seenהְֽרָאִ֔יתָhe.ra.'I.taH7200allכָּל־kol-H3605thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088greatהַגָּד֖וֹלha.ga.DolH1419multitudeהֶהָמ֥וֹןhe.ha.MonH1995?BeholdH2009,I will deliverנֹתְנ֤וֹno.te.NoH5414them into your handבְיָֽדְךָ֙ve.ya.de.KhaH3027todayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117, andyou shall knowוְיָדַעְתָּ֖ve.ya.da'.TaH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.’”

14Ahabאַחְאָב֙'ach.'AvH256saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “By whomבְּמִ֔יbe.MiH4310?”So he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “Thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, ‘By the youngבְּנַעֲרֵ֖יbe.na.'a.ReiH5288menH5288of the rulersשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of the provincesהַמְּדִינ֑וֹתha.me.di.NotH4082.’”Then he saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whoמִֽי־mi-H4310shallbeginיֶאְסֹ֥רye'.SorH631the battleהַמִּלְחָמָ֖הha.mil.cha.MahH4421?” And heansweredוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “You.”

15Then he musteredוַיִּפְקֹ֗דvai.yif.KodH6485the youngנַעֲרֵי֙na.'a.ReiH5288menH5288of the rulersשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of the provincesהַמְּדִינ֔וֹתha.me.di.NotH4082,and there were 232מָאתַ֖יִם שְׁנַ֣יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֑יםma.Ta.yim she.Na.yim u.she.lo.ShimH3967 H8147 H7970;and afterוְאַחֲרֵיהֶ֗םve.'a.cha.rei.HemH310them he musteredפָּקַ֧דpa.KadH6485allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971, evenallכָּל־kol-H3605the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,7,000שִׁבְעַ֥ת אֲלָפִֽים׃shiv.'At 'a.la.FimH7651 H505.

16They wentוַיֵּצְא֖וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318out at noonבַּֽצָּהֳרָ֑יִםba.tzo.ho.Ra.yimH6672, whileBen-hadadH1130was drinkingשֹׁתֶ֨הsho.TehH8354himself drunkשִׁכּ֜וֹרshi.KorH7910in thetemporaryH5521sheltersH5521with the thirty-twoשְׁלֹשִֽׁים־ וּשְׁנַ֥יִםshe.lo.shim- u.she.Na.yimH7970 H8147kingsH4428who helpedעֹזֵ֥ר'o.ZerH5826him.

17The youngנַעֲרֵ֛יna.'a.ReiH5288menH5288of the rulersשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of the provincesהַמְּדִינ֖וֹתha.me.di.NotH4082wentוַיֵּצְא֗וּvai.ye.tze.'UH3318out firstבָּרִֽאשֹׁנָ֑הba.ri.sho.NahH7223;and Ben-hadadH1130sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֣חvai.yish.LachH7971out and they toldוַיַּגִּ֤ידוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046him, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “MenH376have comeיָצְא֖וּya.tze.'UH3318out from Samariaמִשֹּׁמְרֽוֹן׃mi.sho.me.RonH8111.”

18Then he saidוַיֹּ֛אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518they have comeיָצָ֖אוּya.Tza.'uH3318out for peaceלְשָׁל֥וֹםle.sha.LomH7965,takeתִּפְשׂ֣וּםtif.SumH8610them aliveחַיִּ֑יםchai.YimH2416;or ifוְאִ֧םve.'ImH518they have comeיָצָ֖אוּya.Tza.'uH3318out for warלְמִלְחָמָ֛הle.mil.cha.MahH4421,takeתִּפְשֽׂוּם׃tif.SumH8610them aliveחַיִּ֥יםchai.YimH2416.”

19So theseוְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ve.'E.lehH428wentיָצְא֣וּya.tze.'UH3318out from the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892,the youngנַעֲרֵ֖יna.'a.ReiH5288menH5288of the rulersשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of the provincesהַמְּדִינ֑וֹתha.me.di.NotH4082,and the armyוְהַחַ֖יִלve.ha.Cha.yilH2428whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834followedאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃'a.cha.rei.HemH310them.

20Theykilledוַיַּכּוּ֙vai.ya.KuH5221eachאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376his manאִישׁ֔וֹ'i.ShoH376;and the Arameansאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758fledוַיָּנֻ֣סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127and Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478pursuedוַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֖םvai.yir.de.FemH7291them, and Ben-hadadH1130kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aramאֲרָ֔ם'a.RamH758escapedוַיִּמָּלֵ֗טvai.yi.ma.LetH4422on a horseס֖וּסsusH5483with horsemenוּפָרָשִֽׁים׃u.fa.ra.ShimH6571.

21The kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478wentוַיֵּצֵא֙vai.ye.Tze'H3318out andstruckוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221the horsesהַסּ֖וּסha.SusH5483and chariotsהָרָ֑כֶבha.Ra.khevH7393, andkilledוְהִכָּ֥הve.hi.KahH5221the Arameansבַאֲרָ֖םva.'a.RamH758with a greatגְדוֹלָֽה׃ge.do.LahH1419slaughterמַכָּ֥הma.KahH4347.

22Thenthe prophetהַנָּבִיא֙ha.na.Vi'H5030cameH5066nearH5066to the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Goלֵ֣ךְlekhH1980,strengthenהִתְחַזַּ֔קhit.cha.ZakH2388yourself and observeוְדַ֥עve.Da'H3045and seeוּרְאֵ֖הu.re.'EhH7200whatאֲשֶֽׁר־'a.Sher-H834you have to doתַּעֲשֶׂ֑הta.'a.SehH6213; forat the turnלִתְשׁוּבַ֣תlit.shu.VatH8666of the yearהַשָּׁנָ֔הha.sha.NahH8141the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aramאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758will comeעֹלֶ֥ה'o.LehH5927up againstעָלֶֽיךָ׃ ס'a.Lei.khaH5921you.”

23Now the servantsוְעַבְדֵ֨יve.'av.DeiH5650of the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָ֜ם'a.RamH758saidאָמְר֣וּ'a.me.RuH559to him, “Their godsאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430are godsאֱלֹ֣הֵיהֶ֔ם'e.Lo.hei.HemH430of the mountainsהָרִים֙ha.RimH2022,thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֖ן'al- kenH5921 H3651they were strongerחָזְק֣וּcha.ze.KuH2388thanH4480we; but ratherוְאוּלָ֗םve.'u.LamH199let us fightנִלָּחֵ֤םni.la.ChemH3898againstאִתָּם֙'i.TamH854them in the plainבַּמִּישׁ֔וֹרba.mi.ShorH4334, andsurelyאִם־ לֹ֥א'im- lo'H518 H3808we will be strongerנֶחֱזַ֖קne.che.ZakH2388thanH4480they.

24Doעֲשֵׂ֑ה'a.SehH6213thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697:removeהָסֵ֤רha.SerH5493the kingsהַמְּלָכִים֙ha.me.la.KhimH4428,eachאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376from his placeמִמְּקֹמ֔וֹmi.me.ko.MoH4725,and putוְשִׂ֥יםve.SimH7760captainsפַּח֖וֹתpa.ChotH6346in their placeתַּחְתֵּיהֶֽם׃tach.tei.HemH8478,

25andmusterתִֽמְנֶה־tim.neh-H4487an armyחַ֡יִלCha.yilH2428like the armyכַּחַיִל֩ka.cha.YilH2428that you have lostהַנֹּפֵ֨לha.no.FelH5307,horseוְס֣וּסve.SusH5483for horseכַּסּ֣וּס׀ka.SusH5483,and chariotוְרֶ֣כֶבve.Re.khevH7393for chariotכָּרֶ֗כֶבka.Re.khevH7393.Then we will fightוְנִֽלָּחֲמָ֤הve.ni.la.cha.MahH3898againstH854them in the plainבַּמִּישׁ֔וֹרba.mi.ShorH4334,and surelyאִם־ לֹ֥א'im- lo'H518 H3808we will be strongerנֶחֱזַ֖קne.che.ZakH2388thanH4480they.” And he listenedוַיִּשְׁמַ֥עvai.yish.Ma'H8085to their voiceלְקֹלָ֖םle.ko.LamH6963and didוַיַּ֥עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213soכֵּֽן׃ פKenH3651.
