1And it cameוַיְהִ֕יvay.HiH1961about, whenH3512Davidדָּוִ֖ידda.VidH1732dweltיָשַׁ֥בya.ShavH3427in his houseבְּבֵית֑וֹbe.vei.ToH1004,that Davidדָּוִ֜ידda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Nathanנָתָ֣ןna.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֗יאha.na.Vi'H5030, “Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,I am dwellingיוֹשֵׁב֙yo.ShevH3427in a houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of cedarהָֽאֲרָזִ֔יםha.'a.ra.ZimH730,but the arkוַאֲר֥וֹןva.'a.RonH727of the covenantבְּרִית־be.rit-H1285of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is underתַּ֥חַתTa.chatH8478curtainsיְרִיעֽוֹת׃ye.ri.'otH3407.”

2Then Nathanנָתָן֙na.TanH5416saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Davidדָּוִ֔ידda.VidH1732, “Doעֲשֵׂ֑ה'a.SehH6213allכֹּ֛לkolH3605that is in your heartבִּֽלְבָבְךָ֖bil.va.ve.KhaH3824,for Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430is with you.”

3It cameוַֽיְהִ֖יvay.HiH1961about the sameהַה֑וּאha.Hu'H1931nightבַּלַּ֣יְלָהba.Lay.lahH3915that the wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430cameוַיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961to Nathanנָתָ֖ןna.TanH5416,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

4“Goלֵ֤ךְlekhH1980and tellוְאָמַרְתָּ֙ve.'a.mar.TaH559Davidדָּוִ֣ידda.VidH1732My servantעַבְדִּ֔י'av.DiH5650, ‘Thusכֹּ֖הkohH3541saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “You shall not buildתִּבְנֶה־tiv.neh-H1129a houseהַבַּ֖יִתha.Ba.yitH1004for Me to dwellלָשָֽׁבֶת׃la.Sha.vetH3427in;

5for I have not dweltיָשַׁ֙בְתִּי֙ya.Shav.tiH3427in a houseבְּבַ֔יִתbe.Va.yitH1004sinceמִן־min-H4480the dayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117that I broughtהֶעֱלֵ֙יתִי֙he.'e.Lei.tiH5927up Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478to thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117, but I havegoneוָֽאֶהְיֶ֛הva.'eh.YehH1961from tentמֵאֹ֥הֶלme.'O.helH168to tentאֹ֖הֶל'O.helH168and from onedwellingH4908placeH4908to another.

6In allבְּכֹ֥לbe.KholH3605places whereאֲשֶֽׁר־'a.Sher-H834I have walkedהִתְהַלַּכְתִּי֮hit.ha.lakh.TiH1980with allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478,have I spokenדִּבַּ֗רְתִּיdi.Bar.tiH1696a wordהֲדָבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697with anyאַחַד֙'a.ChadH259of the judgesשֹׁפְטֵ֣יsho.fe.TeiH8199of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834I commandedצִוִּ֛יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680to shepherdלִרְע֥וֹתlir.'otH7462My peopleעַמִּ֖י'a.MiH5971,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘Whyלָ֛מָּהLa.mahH4100have you not builtבְנִיתֶ֥םve.ni.TemH1129for Me a houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of cedarאֲרָזִֽים׃'a.ra.ZimH730?’”’

7Nowוְ֠עַתָּהVe.'a.tahH6258,therefore, thusכֹּֽה־koh-H3541shall you sayתֹאמַ֞רto.MarH559to My servantלְעַבְדִּ֣יle.'av.DiH5650Davidלְדָוִ֗יד סle.da.VidH1732, ‘Thusכֹּ֤הkohH3541saysאָמַר֙'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635, “I tookלְקַחְתִּ֙יךָ֙le.kach.Ti.khaH3947you from the pastureהַנָּוֶ֔הha.na.VehH5116,from followingאַחֲרֵ֖י'a.cha.ReiH310the sheepהַצֹּ֑אןha.TzonH6629,to be leaderנָגִ֔ידna.GidH5057overעַ֖ל'alH5921My peopleעַמִּ֥י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

8I have beenוָֽאֶהְיֶ֣הva.'eh.YehH1961with you whereverבְּכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣רbe.Khol 'a.SherH3605 H834you have goneהָלַ֔כְתָּha.Lakh.taH1980,and have cutוָאַכְרִ֥יתva.'akh.RitH3772offH3772allכָּל־kol-H3605your enemiesH340from beforeמִפָּנֶ֑יךָmi.pa.Nei.khaH6440you; and I will makeוְעָשִׂ֤יתִֽיve.'a.Si.tiH6213you a nameשֵׁ֔םShemH8034like the nameכְּשֵׁ֥םke.ShemH8034of the greatהַגְּדוֹלִ֖יםha.ge.do.LimH1419onesH1419whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834are in the earthבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776.

9I will appointוְשַׂמְתִּ֣יve.sam.TiH7760a placeמָ֠קוֹםMa.komH4725for My peopleלְעַמִּ֨יle.'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and will plantוּנְטַעְתִּ֙יהוּ֙u.ne.ta'.Ti.huH5193them, so that they may dwellוְשָׁכַ֣ןve.sha.KhanH7931in their own placeתַּחְתָּ֔יוtach.TavH8478and not be movedיִרְגַּ֖זyir.GazH7264againע֑וֹדodH5750; and thewickedבְנֵי־ve.nei-H5767 H1121will not wasteלְבַלֹּת֔וֹle.va.lo.ToH1086them anymoreיוֹסִ֤יפוּyo.Si.fuH3254as formerlyבָּרִאשׁוֹנָֽה׃ba.ri.sho.NahH7223,

10even from the dayוּלְמִיָּמִ֗יםu.le.mi.ya.MimH3117that I commandedצִוִּ֤יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680judgesשֹֽׁפְטִים֙sho.fe.TimH8199to beoverעַל־'al-H5921My peopleעַמִּ֣י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478.And I will subdueוְהִכְנַ֖עְתִּיve.hikh.Na'.tiH3665allכָּל־kol-H3605your enemiesH340.Moreover, I tellוָאַגִּ֣דva.'a.GidH5046you that the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068will buildיִֽבְנֶה־yiv.neh-H1129a houseוּבַ֖יִתu.Va.yitH1004for you.

11Whenכִּֽי־ki-H3588your daysיָמֶ֙יךָ֙ya.Mei.khaH3117are fulfilledמָלְא֤וּmal.'UH4390that you must goלָלֶ֣כֶתla.Le.khetH1980to bewith your fathersאֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ'a.vo.Tei.khaH1,that I will setוַהֲקִֽימוֹתִ֤יva.ha.ki.mo.TiH6965up one of yourdescendantsזַרְעֲךָ֙zar.'a.KhaH2233afterאַחֲרֶ֔יךָ'a.cha.Rei.khaH310you, whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834will be of your sonsמִבָּנֶ֑יךָmi.ba.Nei.khaH1121;and I will establishוַהֲכִינוֹתִ֖יva.ha.khi.no.TiH3559his kingdomמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃mal.khu.ToH4438.

12He shall buildיִבְנֶה־yiv.neh-H1129for Me a houseבָּ֑יִתBa.yitH1004,and I will establishוְכֹנַנְתִּ֥יve.kho.nan.TiH3559his throneכִּסְא֖וֹkis.'OH3678foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.

13I will be his fatherלְאָ֔בle.'AvH1and he shall be My sonלְבֵ֑ןle.VenH1121;and I will not takeH5493My lovingkindnessוְחַסְדִּי֙ve.chas.DiH2617awayH5493from him,as I tookH5493it from him whoH834was beforeלְפָנֶֽיךָ׃le.fa.Nei.khaH6440you.

14But I will settleH3427him in My houseבְּבֵיתִ֥יbe.vei.TiH1004and in My kingdomוּבְמַלְכוּתִ֖יu.ve.mal.khu.TiH4438foreverעַד־ הָעוֹלָ֑ם'ad- ha.'o.LamH5704 H5769,and his throneוְכִסְא֕וֹve.khis.'OH3678shall be establishedנָכ֖וֹןna.KhonH3559foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.”’”

17ThisH2088was a smallוַתִּקְטַ֨ןva.tik.TanH6994thingH6994in Your eyesבְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙be.'ei.Nei.khaH5869,O Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430;but You have spokenוַתְּדַבֵּ֥רva.te.da.BerH1696of Your servant’sעַבְדְּךָ֖'av.de.KhaH5650houseבֵּֽית־beit-H1004for a greatH7350whileH7350to comeH7350,and have regardedוּרְאִיתַ֗נִיu.re.'i.Ta.niH7200me according to the standardH8447of a manהָאָדָ֛םha.'a.DamH120of highH4609degreeH4609, O Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִֽים׃'E.lo.HimH430.

18Whatמַה־mah-H4100moreיּוֹסִ֨יףyo.SifH3254can Davidדָּוִ֛ידda.VidH1732stillע֥וֹדodH5750sayto You concerning the honorלְכָב֣וֹדle.kha.VodH3519bestowedon Your servantעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ'av.De.khaH5650?For You knowיָדָֽעְתָּ׃ya.Da.'e.taH3045Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֥'av.de.KhaH5650.
