Hebrews 7:23-28

231The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues 2forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25Therefore He is able also to 3save 4forever those who 5draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to 6make intercession for them.

26For it was fitting for us to have such a 7high priest, 8holy, 9innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and 10exalted above the heavens; 27who does not need daily, like those high priests, to 11offer up sacrifices, 12first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did 13once for all when He 14offered up Himself. 28For the Law appoints men as high priests 15who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints 16a Son, 17made perfect forever.
