Galatians 3:2-18
2This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of 1the Law, or by 23hearing with faith? 3Are you so foolish? Having begun 4by the Spirit, are you now 5being perfected by the flesh? 4Did you 6suffer so many things in vain--7if indeed it was in vain? 5So then, does He who 8provides you with the Spirit and 9works 10miracles among you, do it by the works of 11the Law, or by 1213hearing with faith?
614Even so 15Abraham 16believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. 7Therefore, 17be sure that 18it is those who are of faith who are 19sons of Abraham. 8The Scripture, foreseeing that God 20would justify the 21Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “22All the nations will be blessed in you.” 9So then 23those who are of faith are blessed with 24Abraham, the believer.
10For as many as are of the works of 25the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “26Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.” 11Now that 27no one is justified 28by 29the Law before God is evident; for, “3031The righteous man shall live by faith.” 1232However, the Law is not 33of faith; on the contrary, “34He who practices them shall live 35by them.” 13Christ 36redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, “37Cursed is everyone who hangs on 38a 39tree”-- 14in order that 40in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might 41come to the Gentiles, so that we 42would receive 43the promise of the Spirit through faith.
1544Brethren, 45I speak 46in terms of human relations: 47even though it is only a man’s 48covenant, yet when it has been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds 49conditions to it. 16Now the promises were spoken 50to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “51And to your seed,” that is, Christ. 17What I am saying is this: the Law, which came 52four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise. 18For 53if the inheritance is 54based on law, it is no longer 55based on a promise; but 56God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.
