Ephesians 4:7-16
7But 1to each one of us 2grace was given 3according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8Therefore 4it says, “5When He ascended on high, He 6led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.” 9(Now this expression, “He 7ascended,” what 8does it mean except that He also 9had descended into 10the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is Himself also He who ascended 11far above all the heavens, so that He might 12fill all things.) 11And He 13gave 14some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as 15evangelists, and some as pastors and 16teachers, 1217for the equipping of the 18saints for the work of service, to the building up of 19the body of Christ; 13until we all attain to 20the unity of the faith, and of the 2122knowledge of the Son of God, to a 23mature man, to the measure of the stature 24which belongs to the 25fullness of Christ. 1426As a result, we are 27no longer to be children, 28tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by 29craftiness 30in 31deceitful scheming; 15but 32speaking the truth 33in love, 34we are to 35grow up in all aspects into Him who is the 36head, even Christ, 16from whom 37the whole body, being fitted and held together 38by what every joint supplies, according to the 39proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself 40in love.
