Ephesians 2
Made Alive in Christ
1And you 1were 2dead 3in your trespasses and sins, 2in which you 4formerly walked according to the 5course of 6this world, according to 7the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in 8the sons of disobedience. 3Among them we too all 9formerly lived in 10the lusts of our flesh, 11indulging the desires of the flesh and of the 12mind, and were 13by nature 14children of wrath, 15even as the rest. 4But God, being 16rich in mercy, because of 17His great love with which He loved us, 5even when we were 18dead 19in our transgressions, made us alive together 20with Christ (21by grace you have been saved), 6and 22raised us up with Him, and 23seated us with Him in 24the heavenly places in 25Christ Jesus, 7so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing 26riches of His grace in 27kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8For 28by grace you have been saved 29through faith; and 30that not of yourselves, it is 31the gift of God; 932not as a result of works, so that 33no one may boast. 10For we are His workmanship, 34created in 35Christ Jesus for 36good works, which God 37prepared beforehand so that we would 38walk in them.
11Therefore remember that 39formerly 40you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “41Uncircumcision” by the so-called “42Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands-- 12remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, 4344excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to 45the covenants of promise, having 46no hope and 47without God in the world. 13But now in 48Christ Jesus you who 49formerly were 50far off 51have 52been brought near 5354by the blood of Christ. 14For He Himself is 55our peace, 56who made both groups into one and broke down the 57barrier of the dividing wall, 1558by 59abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is 60the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might 6162make the two into 63one new man, thus establishing 64peace, 16and might 65reconcile them both in 66one body to God through the cross, 67by it having 68put to death the enmity. 17And 69He came and preached 70peace to you who were 71far away, and peace to those who were 72near; 18for through Him we both have 73our access in 74one Spirit to 75the Father. 19So then you are no longer 76strangers and aliens, but you are 77fellow citizens with the 78saints, and are of 79God’s household, 20having been 80built on 81the foundation of 82the apostles and prophets, 83Christ Jesus Himself being the 84corner stone, 2185in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into 86a holy 87temple in the Lord, 22in whom you also are being 88built together into a 89dwelling of God in the Spirit.
