1 Corinthians 16:8 in other versions
Context of 1 Corinthians 16:8
6and perhaps I will stay with you, or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way wherever I may go. 7For I do not wish to see you now just in passing; for I hope to remain with you for some time, if the Lord permits. But I will remain in Ephesus until Pentecost; 9for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 10Now if Timothy comes, see that he is with you without cause to be afraid, for he is doing the Lord’s work, as I also am.

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 88. at Ephesus--whence Paul writes this Epistle. Compare 1Co 16:19, "Asia," wherein Ephesus was. until Pentecost--He seems to have stayed as he here purposes: for just when the tumult which drove him away broke out, he was already intending to leave Ephesus (Ac 19:21, 22). Combined with 1Co 5:7, 8, this verse fixes the date of this Epistle to a few weeks before Pentecost, and very soon after the Passover.Read the comment
