17And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971them to spy outלָת֖וּרla.TurH8446the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנָ֑עַןke.Na.'anH3667,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Get you upעֲל֥וּ'a.LuH5927this waysouthwardבַּנֶּ֔גֶבba.Ne.gevH5045,and go upוַעֲלִיתֶ֖םva.'a.li.TemH5927into the mountainהָהָֽר׃ha.HarH2022:

18And seeוּרְאִיתֶ֥םu.re.'i.TemH7200the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776, what it is;and the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971that dwellethהַיֹּשֵׁ֣בhai.yo.ShevH3427therein, whether they bestrongהֶחָזָ֥קhe.cha.ZakH2389or weakהֲרָפֶ֔הha.ra.PehH7504,fewהַמְעַ֥טham.'AtH4592or manyרָֽב׃RavH7227;

19And what the landהָאָ֗רֶץha.'A.retzH776isthat they dwell inיֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427, whether it begoodהֲטוֹבָ֥הha.to.VahH2896or badרָעָ֑הra.'AhH7451;and what citiesהֶֽעָרִ֗יםhe.'a.RimH5892they bethat they dwellיוֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427inH2007,whether in tentsהַבְּמַֽחֲנִ֖יםha.be.ma.cha.NimH4264,or in strong holdsבְּמִבְצָרִֽים׃be.miv.tza.RimH4013;

20And what the landהָ֠אָרֶץHa.'a.retzH776is, whether it befatהַשְּׁמֵנָ֨הha.she.me.NahH8082or leanרָזָ֗הra.ZahH7330,whether there beהֲיֵֽשׁ־ha.yesh-H3426woodעֵץ֙'etzH6086therein, or not. And be ye of good courageוְהִ֨תְחַזַּקְתֶּ֔םve.Hit.cha.zak.TemH2388,and bringוּלְקַחְתֶּ֖םu.le.kach.TemH3947of the fruitמִפְּרִ֣יmi.pe.RiH6529of the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776.Now the timeוְהַ֨יָּמִ֔יםve.Hai.ya.MimH3117wasthe timeיְמֵ֖יye.MeiH3117of the firstripeבִּכּוּרֵ֥יbi.ku.ReiH1061grapesעֲנָבִֽים׃'a.na.VimH6025.

21So they went upוַֽיַּעֲל֖וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927,and searchedוַיָּתֻ֣רוּvai.ya.Tu.ruH8446the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776from the wildernessמִמִּדְבַּר־mi.mid.bar-H4057of Zinצִ֥ןtzinH6790unto Rehobרְחֹ֖בre.ChoH7340,as men comeלְבֹ֥אle.Vo'H935to Hamathחֲמָֽת׃cha.MatH2574.

22And they ascendedוַיַּעֲל֣וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927by the southבַנֶּגֶב֮va.ne.GevH5045,and cameוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935unto Hebronחֶבְרוֹן֒chev.rOnH2275;where Ahimanאֲחִימַן֙'a.chi.ManH289,Sheshaiשֵׁשַׁ֣יshe.ShaiH8344,and Talmaiוְתַלְמַ֔יve.tal.MaiH8526,the childrenיְלִידֵ֖יye.li.DeiH3211of Anakהָעֲנָ֑קha.'a.NakH6061, were. (Now Hebronוְחֶבְר֗וֹןve.chev.RonH2275was builtנִבְנְתָ֔הniv.ne.TahH1129sevenשֶׁ֤בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִים֙sha.NimH8141beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440Zoanצֹ֥עַןTzo.'anH6814in Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.)

23And they cameוַיָּבֹ֜אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935unto the brookנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158of Eshcolאֶשְׁכֹּ֗ל'esh.KolH812,and cut downוַיִּכְרְת֨וּvai.yikh.re.TuH3772from thence a branchזְמוֹרָה֙ze.mo.RahH2156with oneאֶחָ֔ד'e.ChadH259clusterוְאֶשְׁכּ֤וֹלve.'esh.KolH811of grapesעֲנָבִים֙'a.na.VimH6025,and they bareוַיִּשָּׂאֻ֥הוּvai.yi.sa.'U.huH5375it between twoבִּשְׁנָ֑יִםbish.Na.yimH8147upon a staffבַמּ֖וֹטva.MotH4132; and they broughtof the pomegranatesהָרִמֹּנִ֖יםha.ri.mo.NimH7416,and of the figsהַתְּאֵנִֽים׃ha.te.'e.NimH8384.

24The placeלַמָּק֣וֹםla.ma.KomH4725was calledקָרָ֖אka.Ra'H7121the brookנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158Eshcolאֶשְׁכּ֑וֹל'esh.KolH812,because ofאֹד֣וֹת'o.DotH182the cluster of grapesהָֽאֶשְׁכּ֔וֹלha.'esh.KolH811which the childrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478cut downכָּרְת֥וּka.re.TuH3772from thence.

25And they returnedוַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּvai.ya.Shu.vuH7725from searchingמִתּ֣וּרmi.TurH8446of the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776afterמִקֵּ֖ץmi.KetzH7093fortyאַרְבָּעִ֥ים'ar.ba.'ImH705daysיֽוֹם׃YomH3117.
