1The burdenמַשָּׂ֖אma.Sa'H4853of Babylonבָּבֶ֑לba.VelH894,which Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָ֖הוּye.sha'.Ya.huH3470the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Amozאָמֽוֹץ׃'a.MotzH531did seeחָזָ֔הcha.ZahH2372.

2Lift ye upשְֽׂאוּ־se.'u-H5375a bannerנֵ֔סNesH5251upon the highנִשְׁפֶּה֙nish.PehH8192mountainהַר־har-H2022,exaltהָרִ֥ימוּha.Ri.muH7311the voiceק֖וֹלKolH6963unto them, shakeהָנִ֣יפוּha.Ni.fuH5130the handיָ֔דYadH3027,that they may goוְיָבֹ֖אוּve.ya.Vo.'uH935into the gatesפִּתְחֵ֥יpit.CheiH6607of the noblesנְדִיבִֽים׃ne.di.VimH5081.

3I have commandedצִוֵּ֖יתִיtzi.Vei.tiH6680my sanctified onesלִמְקֻדָּשָׁ֑יlim.ku.da.ShaiH6942,I have also calledקָרָ֤אתִיka.Ra.tiH7121my mighty onesגִבּוֹרַי֙gi.bo.RaiH1368for mine angerלְאַפִּ֔יle.'a.PiH639, eventhem that rejoiceעַלִּיזֵ֖י'a.li.ZeiH5947in my highnessגַּאֲוָתִֽי׃ga.'a.va.TiH1346.

4The noiseק֥וֹלKolH6963of a multitudeהָמ֛וֹןha.MonH1995in the mountainsבֶּֽהָרִ֖יםbe.ha.RimH2022,like asדְּמ֣וּתde.MutH1823of a greatרָ֑בRavH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971;a tumultuousשְׁא֞וֹןshe.'onH7588noiseק֠וֹלKolH6963of the kingdomsמַמְלְכ֤וֹתmam.le.KhotH4467of nationsגּוֹיִם֙go.YimH1471gathered togetherנֶֽאֱסָפִ֔יםne.'e.sa.FimH622:the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635musterethמְפַקֵּ֖דme.fa.KedH6485the hostצְבָ֥אtze.Va'H6635of the battleמִלְחָמָֽה׃mil.cha.MahH4421.

5They comeבָּאִ֛יםba.'ImH935from a farמֶרְחָ֖קmer.ChakH4801countryמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776,from the endמִקְצֵ֣הmik.TzehH7097of heavenהַשָּׁמָ֑יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064, eventhe Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,and the weaponsוּכְלֵ֣יu.khe.LeiH3627of his indignationזַעְמ֔וֹza'.MoH2195,to destroyלְחַבֵּ֖לle.cha.BelH2254the whole landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

6Howlהֵילִ֕ילוּhei.Li.luH3213ye; for the dayי֣וֹםYomH3117of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068isat handקָר֖וֹבka.RovH7138;it shall comeיָבֽוֹא׃ya.Vo'H935as a destructionכְּשֹׁ֖דke.ShodH7701from the Almightyמִשַּׁדַּ֥יmi.sha.DaiH7706.

7Therefore shall all handsיָדַ֣יִםya.Da.yimH3027be faintתִּרְפֶּ֑ינָהtir.Pei.nahH7503,and every man’sאֱנ֖וֹשׁ'e.No.oshH582heartלְבַ֥בle.VavH3824shall meltיִמָּס׃yi.MasH4549:

8And they shall be afraidוְֽנִבְהָ֓לוּ׀ve.niv.Ha.luH926:pangsצִירִ֤יםtzi.RimH6735and sorrowsוַֽחֲבָלִים֙va.cha.va.LimH2256shall take holdיֹֽאחֵז֔וּןyo.che.ZunH270of them; they shall be in painיְחִיל֑וּןye.chi.LunH2342as a woman that travailethכַּיּוֹלֵדָ֖הkai.yo.le.DahH3205:they shall be amazedיִתְמָ֔הוּyit.Ma.huH8539oneאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376at anotherרֵעֵ֙הוּ֙re.'E.huH7453;their facesH6440shall be asflamesלְהָבִ֖יםle.ha.VimH3851.

9Behold, the dayיוֹם־yom-H3117of the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068comethבָּ֔אBa'H935,cruelאַכְזָרִ֥י'akh.za.RiH394both with wrathוְעֶבְרָ֖הve.'ev.RahH5678and fierceוַחֲר֣וֹןva.cha.RonH2740angerאָ֑ף'AfH639,to layלָשׂ֤וּםla.SumH7760the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776desolateלְשַׁמָּ֔הle.sha.MahH8047:and he shall destroyיַשְׁמִ֥ידyash.MidH8045the sinnersוְחַטָּאֶ֖יהָve.cha.ta.'Ei.haH2400thereof out of it.

10For the starsכוֹכְבֵ֤יkhokh.VeiH3556of heavenהַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ha.sha.Ma.yimH8064and the constellationsוּכְסִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔םu.khe.Si.lei.HemH3685thereof shall not giveיָהֵ֖לּוּya.He.luH1984their lightאוֹרָ֑ם'o.RamH216:the sunהַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙ha.She.meshH8121shall be darkenedחָשַׁ֤ךְcha.ShakhH2821in his going forthבְּצֵאת֔וֹbe.tze.ToH3318,and the moonוְיָרֵ֖חַve.ya.Re.achH3394shall not cause her lightאוֹרֽוֹ׃'o.RoH216to shineיַגִּ֥יהַya.Gi.haH5050.

11And I will punishוּפָקַדְתִּ֤יu.fa.kad.TiH6485the worldתֵּבֵל֙te.VelH8398for theirevilרָעָ֔הra.'AhH7451,and the wickedרְשָׁעִ֖יםre.sha.'ImH7563for their iniquityעֲוֹנָ֑ם'a.vo.NamH5771;and I will cause the arrogancyגְּא֣וֹןge.'onH1347of the proudזֵדִ֔יםze.DimH2086to ceaseוְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙ve.hish.ba.TiH7673,and will lay lowאַשְׁפִּֽיל׃'ash.PilH8213the haughtinessוְגַאֲוַ֥תve.ga.'a.VatH1346of the terribleעָרִיצִ֖ים'a.ri.TzimH6184.

12I will make a manאֱנ֖וֹשׁ'e.No.oshH582more preciousאוֹקִ֥יר'o.KirH3365than fine goldמִפָּ֑זmi.PazH6337;even a manוְאָדָ֖םve.'a.DamH120than the golden wedgeמִכֶּ֥תֶםmi.Ke.temH3800of Ophirאוֹפִֽיר׃'o.FirH211.

13Therefore I will shakeאַרְגִּ֔יז'ar.GizH7264the heavensשָׁמַ֣יִםsha.Ma.yimH8064,and the earthהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776shall removeוְתִרְעַ֥שׁve.tir.'AshH7493out of her placeמִמְּקוֹמָ֑הּmi.me.ko.MahH4725,in the wrathבְּעֶבְרַת֙be.'ev.RatH5678of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of hostsצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635,and in the dayוּבְי֖וֹםu.ve.YomH3117of his fierceחֲר֥וֹןcha.RonH2740angerאַפּֽוֹ׃'a.PoH639.

14And it shall be as the chasedמֻדָּ֔חmu.DachH5080roeכִּצְבִ֣יkitz.ViH6643,and as a sheepוּכְצֹ֖אןu.khe.TzonH6629that no man taketh upמְקַבֵּ֑ץme.ka.BetzH6908:they shall every manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376turnיִפְנ֔וּyif.NuH6437to his own peopleעַמּוֹ֙a.MoH5971,and fleeיָנֽוּסוּ׃ya.Nu.suH5127every oneוְאִ֥ישׁve.'IshH376into his own landאַרְצ֖וֹ'ar.TzoH776.

15Every one that is foundהַנִּמְצָ֖אha.nim.Tza'H4672shall be thrust throughיִדָּקֵ֑רyi.da.KerH1856;and every one that is joinedהַנִּסְפֶּ֖הha.nis.PehH5595unto themshall fallיִפּ֥וֹלyi.PolH5307by the swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃be.Cha.revH2719.

16Their childrenוְעֹלְלֵיהֶ֥םve.'o.le.lei.HemH5768also shall be dashed to piecesיְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּye.ru.te.ShuH7376before their eyesלְעֵֽינֵיהֶ֑םle.'ei.nei.HemH5869;their housesבָּֽתֵּיהֶ֔םba.tei.HemH1004shall be spoiledיִשַּׁ֙סּוּ֙yi.Sha.suH8155,and their wivesוּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖םu.ne.shei.HemH802ravishedתִּשָּׁכַֽבְנָה׃ti.sha.khab.nahH7693 H7901.

17Behold, I will stir upמֵעִ֥ירme.'IrH5782the Medesמָדָ֑יma.DaiH4074against them, which shall not regardיַחְשֹׁ֔בוּyach.ShouH2803silverכֶּ֙סֶף֙ke.sefH3701; and as forgoldוְזָהָ֖בve.za.HavH2091,they shall not delightיַחְפְּצוּ־yach.pe.tzu-H2654in it.

18Theirbowsוּקְשָׁת֖וֹתu.ke.sha.TotH7198also shall dashתְּרַטַּ֑שְׁנָהte.ra.Tash.nahH7376the young menנְעָרִ֣יםne.'a.RimH5288to piecesH7376;and they shall have no pityיְרַחֵ֔מוּye.ra.Che.muH7355on the fruitוּפְרִי־u.fe.ri-H6529of the wombבֶ֙טֶן֙ve.tenH990;their eyeעֵינָֽם׃'ei.NamH5869shall not spareתָח֥וּסta.ChusH2347childrenבָּנִ֖יםba.NimH1121.

19And Babylonבָבֶל֙va.VelH894,the gloryצְבִ֣יtze.ViH6643of kingdomsמַמְלָכ֔וֹתmam.la.KhotH4467,the beautyתִּפְאֶ֖רֶתtif.'E.retH8597of the Chaldees’כַּשְׂדִּ֑יםkas.DimH3778excellencyגְּא֣וֹןge.'onH1347,shall be as when Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430overthrewכְּמַהְפֵּכַ֣תke.mah.pe.KhatH4114Sodomסְדֹ֖םse.DomH5467and Gomorrahעֲמֹרָֽה׃'a.mo.RahH6017.

20It shall neverלָנֶ֔צַחla.Ne.tzachH5331be inhabitedתֵשֵׁ֣בte.ShevH3427,neither shall it be dweltתִשְׁכֹּ֖ןtish.KonH7931in from generationדּ֣וֹרDorH1755to generationוָד֑וֹרva.DorH1755:neither shall the Arabianעֲרָבִ֔י'a.ra.ViH6163pitch tentיַהֵ֥לya.HelH167there; neither shall the shepherdsוְרֹעִ֖יםve.ro.'ImH7462make their foldיַרְבִּ֥צוּyar.Bi.tzuH7257there.

21But wild beasts of the desertצִיִּ֔יםtzi.YimH6728shall lieוְרָבְצוּ־ve.ra.ve.tzu-H7257there; and their housesבָתֵּיהֶ֖םva.tei.HemH1004shall be fullוּמָלְא֥וּu.mal.'UH4390of doleful creaturesאֹחִ֑ים'o.ChimH255;and owlsבְּנ֣וֹת יַֽעֲנָ֔הbe.Not ya.'a.NahH3284 H1323shall dwellוְשָׁ֤כְנוּve.Sha.khe.nuH7931there, and satyrsוּשְׂעִירִ֖יםu.se.'i.RimH8163shall danceיְרַקְּדוּ־ye.ra.ke.du-H7540there.

22And the wild beasts of the islandsאִיִּים֙'i.YimH338shall cryוְעָנָ֤הve.'a.NahH6030in their desolate housesבְּאַלְמנוֹתָ֔יוbe.'al.m.no.TavH490,and dragonsוְתַנִּ֖יםve.ta.NimH8577in theirpleasantעֹ֑נֶג'O.negH6027palacesבְּהֵ֣יכְלֵיbe.Hei.khe.leiH1964:and her timeעִתָּ֔הּ'i.TahH6256isnearוְקָר֤וֹבve.ka.RovH7138to comeלָבוֹא֙la.Vo'H935,and her daysוְיָמֶ֖יהָve.ya.Mei.haH3117shall not be prolongedיִמָּשֵֽׁכוּ׃yi.ma.She.khuH4900.
