1And it came to pass in the daysבִּימֵ֣יbi.MeiH3117of Ahazאָ֠חָז'A.chozH271the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jothamיוֹתָ֨םyo.TamH3147,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Uzziahעֻזִּיָּ֜הוּ'u.zi.Ya.huH5818,kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063, thatRezinרְצִ֣יןre.TzinH7526the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Syriaאֲ֠רָם'A.romH758,and Pekahוּפֶ֨קַחu.Fe.kachH6492the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Remaliahרְמַלְיָ֤הוּre.mal.Ya.huH7425,kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478,went upעָלָ֣ה'a.LahH5927toward Jerusalemיְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םye.Ru.sha.LimH3389to warלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421against it, but couldיָכֹ֖לya.KholH3201not prevailלְהִלָּחֵ֥םle.hi.la.ChemH3898against it.

2And it was toldוַיֻּגַּ֗דvai.yu.GadH5046the houseלְבֵ֤יתle.VeitH1004of Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559,Syriaאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758is confederateנָ֥חָֽהNa.chahH5117with Ephraimאֶפְרָ֑יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669.And his heartלְבָבוֹ֙le.va.VoH3824was movedוַיָּ֤נַעvai.Ya.na'H5128,and the heartוּלְבַ֣בu.le.VavH3824of his peopleעַמּ֔וֹa.MoH5971,as the treesעֲצֵי־'a.tzei-H6086of the woodיַ֖עַרYa.'arH3293are movedכְּנ֥וֹעַke.No.a'H5128withמִפְּנֵי־mi.pe.nei-H6440the windרֽוּחַ׃Ru.achH7307.

3Then saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the Lordיְהוָה֮Yah.wehH3068unto Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּ֒ye.sha'.ya.HuH3470,Go forthצֵא־tze'-H3318now to meetH7125Ahazאָחָ֔ז'a.ChazH271,thou, and Shear–jashubH7610thy sonבְּנֶ֑ךָbe.Ne.khaH1121,at the endקְצֵ֗הke.TzehH7097of the conduitתְּעָלַת֙te.'a.LatH8585of the upperהָעֶלְיוֹנָ֔הha.'el.yo.NahH5945poolהַבְּרֵכָ֣הha.be.re.KhahH1295in the highwayמְסִלַּ֖תme.si.LatH4546of the fuller’sכוֹבֵֽס׃kho.VesH3526fieldשְׂדֵ֥הse.DehH7704;

4And sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559unto him, Take heedהִשָּׁמֵ֨רhi.sha.MerH8104,and be quietוְהַשְׁקֵ֜טve.hash.KetH8252;fearתִּירָ֗אti.Ra'H3372not, neither be faintheartedוּלְבָבְךָ֙ יֵרַ֔ךְu.le.va.ve.Kha ye.RakhH3824 H7401for the twoמִשְּׁנֵ֨יmi.she.NeiH8147tailsזַנְב֧וֹתzan.VotH2180of these smokingהָעֲשֵׁנִ֖יםha.'a.she.NimH6226firebrandsהָאוּדִ֛יםha.'u.DimH181,for the fierceבָּחֳרִי־bo.cho.ri-H2750angerאַ֛ף'afH639of Rezinרְצִ֥יןre.TzinH7526with Syriaוַאֲרָ֖םva.'a.RamH758,and of the sonוּבֶן־u.ven-H1121of Remaliahרְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃re.mal.Ya.huH7425.

5Because Syriaאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758,Ephraimאֶפְרַ֥יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669,and the sonוּבֶן־u.ven-H1121of Remaliahרְמַלְיָ֖הוּre.mal.Ya.huH7425,have taken evilרָעָ֑הra.'AhH7451counselיָעַ֥ץya.'AtzH3289against thee, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

6Let us go upנַעֲלֶ֤הna.'a.LehH5927against Judahבִֽיהוּדָה֙vi.hu.DahH3063,and vexוּנְקִיצֶ֔נָּהu.ne.ki.Tze.nahH6973it, and let us make a breachוְנַבְקִעֶ֖נָּהve.nav.ki.'E.nahH1234therein for us, and setוְנַמְלִ֥יךְve.nam.LikhH4427a kingמֶ֙לֶךְ֙Me.lekhH4428in the midstבְּתוֹכָ֔הּbe.to.KhahH8432of it, eventhe sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Tabealטָֽבְאַֽל׃ סTa.ve.'AlH2870:

7Thusכֹּ֥הkohH3541saithאָמַ֖ר'a.MarH559the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136Godיְהוִ֑הYah.wehH3069,It shall not standתָק֖וּםta.KumH6965, neither shall it come to pass.

8For the headרֹ֤אשׁroshH7218of Syriaאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758isDamascusדַּמֶּ֔שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834,and the headוְרֹ֥אשׁve.RoshH7218of Damascusדַּמֶּ֖שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834isRezinרְצִ֑יןre.TzinH7526;and within threescoreשִׁשִּׁ֤יםshi.ShimH8346and fiveוְחָמֵשׁ֙ve.cha.MeshH2568yearsשָׁנָ֔הsha.NahH8141shall Ephraimאֶפְרַ֖יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669be brokenיֵחַ֥תye.ChatH2865,that it be not a peopleמֵעָֽם׃me.'AmH5971.

9And the headוְרֹ֤אשׁve.RoshH7218of Ephraimאֶפְרַ֙יִם֙'ef.Ra.yimH669isSamariaשֹׁמְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111,and the headוְרֹ֥אשׁve.RoshH7218of Samariaשֹׁמְר֖וֹןsho.me.RonH8111isRemaliah’sרְמַלְיָ֑הוּre.mal.Ya.huH7425sonבֶּן־ben-H1121.If ye will not believeתַאֲמִ֔ינוּta.'a.Mi.nuH539,surely ye shall not be establishedתֵאָמֵֽנוּ׃ סte.'a.Me.nuH539.

10Moreover the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068spakeדַּבֵּ֥רda.BerH1696againוַיּ֣וֹסֶףvai.Yo.sefH3254unto Ahazאָחָ֖ז'a.ChazH271,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

11Askשְׁאַל־she.'al-H7592thee a signא֔וֹת'otH226of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068thy Godאֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430;askH7592it either in the depthהַעְמֵ֣קha'.MekH6009,or in the heightהַגְבֵּ֥הַּhag.Be.ahH1361aboveלְמָֽעְלָה׃le.Ma.'e.lahH4605.

12But Ahazאָחָ֑ז'a.ChazH271saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,I will not askאֶשְׁאַ֥ל'esh.'AlH7592,neither will I temptאֲנַסֶּ֖ה אֶת־'a.na.Seh 'et-H853 H5254the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

13And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Hearשִׁמְעוּ־shim.'u-H8085ye now, O houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Davidדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732; Is ita small thingהַמְעַ֤טham.'AtH4592for you to wearyהַלְא֣וֹתhal.'otH3811menאֲנָשִׁ֔ים'a.na.ShimH582,but will ye wearyתַלְא֖וּtal.'UH3811my Godאֱלֹהָֽי׃'e.lo.HaiH430also?

14Therefore the Lordאֲדֹנָ֥י'a.do.NaiH136himself shall giveיִתֵּ֨ןyi.TenH5414you a signא֑וֹת'otH226;Behold, a virginהָעַלְמָ֗הha.'al.MahH5959shall conceiveהָרָה֙ha.RahH2030,and bearוְיֹלֶ֣דֶתve.yo.Le.detH3205a sonבֵּ֔ןBenH1121,and shall callוְקָרָ֥אתve.ka.RatH7121his nameשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034ImmanuelH410 H6005.

15Butterחֶמְאָ֥הchem.'AhH2529and honeyוּדְבַ֖שׁu.de.VashH1706shall he eatיֹאכֵ֑לyo.KhelH398,that he may knowלְדַעְתּ֛וֹle.da'.ToH3045to refuseמָא֥וֹסma.'osH3988the evilבָּרָ֖עba.Ra'H7451,and chooseוּבָח֥וֹרu.va.ChorH977the goodבַּטּֽוֹב׃ba.TovH2896.

16For before the childהַנַּ֛עַרha.Na.'arH5288shall knowיֵדַ֥עye.Da'H3045to refuseמָאֹ֥סma.'OsH3988the evilבָּרָ֖עba.Ra'H7451,and chooseוּבָחֹ֣רu.va.ChorH977the goodבַּטּ֑וֹבba.TovH2896,the landהָאֲדָמָה֙ha.'a.da.MahH127that thou abhorrestקָ֔ץKatzH6973shall beמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440forsakenתֵּעָזֵ֤בte.'a.ZevH5800of bothשְׁנֵ֥יshe.NeiH8147her kingsמְלָכֶֽיהָ׃me.la.Khei.haH4428.

17The Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068shall bringיָבִ֨יאya.Vi'H935upon thee, and upon thy peopleעַמְּךָ֮'a.me.KhaH5971,and upon thy father’sאָבִיךָ֒'a.vi.KhaH1houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004,daysיָמִים֙ya.MimH3117that have not comeבָ֔אוּVa.'uH935,from the dayלְמִיּ֥וֹםle.mi.YomH3117that Ephraimאֶפְרַ֖יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669departedסוּר־sur-H5493from Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063; eventhe kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃ פ'a.ShurH804.

18And it shall come to pass in that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117, thatthe Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068shall hissיִשְׁרֹ֤קyish.RokH8319for the flyלַזְּב֔וּבla.ze.VuvH2070that isin the uttermost partבִּקְצֵ֖הbik.TzehH7097of the riversיְאֹרֵ֣יye.'o.ReiH2975of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,and for the beeוְלַ֨דְּבוֹרָ֔הve.La.de.vo.RahH1682that isin the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Assyriaאַשּֽׁוּר׃'a.ShurH804.

19And they shall comeוּבָ֨אוּu.Va.'uH935,and shall restוְנָח֤וּve.na.ChuH5117all of them in the desolateהַבַּתּ֔וֹתha.ba.TotH1327valleysבְּנַחֲלֵ֣יbe.na.cha.LeiH5158,and in the holesוּבִנְקִיקֵ֖יu.vin.ki.KeiH5357of the rocksהַסְּלָעִ֑יםha.se.la.'ImH5553,and upon all thornsהַנַּ֣עֲצוּצִ֔יםha.Na.'a.tzu.TzimH5285,and upon all bushesהַנַּהֲלֹלִֽים׃ha.na.ha.lo.LimH5097.

20In the same dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117shall the Lordאֲדֹנָי֩'a.do.NaiH136shaveיְגַלַּ֣חye.ga.LachH1548with a razorבְּתַ֨עַרbe.Ta.'arH8593that is hiredהַשְּׂכִירָ֜הha.se.khi.RahH7917, namely,by them beyondבְּעֶבְרֵ֤יbe.'ev.ReiH5676the riverנָהָר֙na.HarH5104,by the kingבְּמֶ֣לֶךְbe.Me.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804,the headהָרֹ֖אשׁha.RoshH7218,and the hairוְשַׂ֣עַרve.Sa.'arH8181of the feetהָרַגְלָ֑יִםha.rag.La.yimH7272:and it shall also consumeתִּסְפֶּֽה׃ סtis.PehH5595the beardהַזָּקָ֖ןha.za.KanH2206.

21And it shall come to pass in that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117, thata manאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376shall nourishיְחַיֶּה־ye.chai.yeh-H2421a youngבָּקָ֖רba.KarH1241cowעֶגְלַ֥ת'eg.LatH5697,and twoוּשְׁתֵּי־u.she.tei-H8147sheepצֹֽאן׃TzonH6629;

22And it shall come to pass, for the abundanceמֵרֹ֛בme.RoH7230of milkחָלָ֖בcha.LavH2461thatthey shall giveעֲשׂ֥וֹתa.SotH6213he shall eatיֹאכַ֣לyo.KhalH398butterחֶמְאָ֑הchem.'AhH2529:for butterחֶמְאָ֤הchem.'AhH2529and honeyוּדְבַשׁ֙u.de.VashH1706shall every one eatיֹאכֵ֔לyo.KhelH398that is leftהַנּוֹתָ֖רha.no.TarH3498inבְּקֶ֥רֶבbe.Ke.revH7130the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

23And it shall come to pass in that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117, thatevery placeמָק֗וֹםma.KomH4725shall be, where there were a thousandאֶ֥לֶף'E.lefH505vinesגֶּ֖פֶןGe.fenH1612at a thousandבְּאֶ֣לֶףbe.'E.lefH505silverlingsכָּ֑סֶףKa.sefH3701, it shall evenbe for briersלַשָּׁמִ֥ירla.sha.MirH8068and thornsוְלַשַּׁ֖יִתve.la.Sha.yitH7898.

24With arrowsבַּחִצִּ֥יםba.chi.TzimH2671and with bowsוּבַקֶּ֖שֶׁתu.va.Ke.shetH7198shall mencomeיָ֣בוֹאYa.Vo'H935thither; because all the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776shall become briersשָׁמִ֥ירsha.MirH8068and thornsוָשַׁ֖יִתva.Sha.yitH7898.

25And onall hillsהֶהָרִ֗יםhe.ha.RimH2022that shall be diggedיֵעָ֣דֵר֔וּןye.'A.de.RunH5737with the mattockבַּמַּעְדֵּר֙ba.ma'.DerH4576,there shall not come thitherתָב֣וֹאta.Vo'H935the fearיִרְאַ֖תyir.'AtH3374of briersשָׁמִ֣ירsha.MirH8068and thornsוָשָׁ֑יִתva.Sha.yitH7898:but it shall be for the sending forthלְמִשְׁלַ֣חle.mish.LachH4916of oxenשׁ֔וֹרShorH7794,and for the treadingוּלְמִרְמַ֖סu.le.mir.MasH4823of lesser cattleשֶֽׂה׃ פSehH7716.
