Context of Romans 8:32
30God had already chosen those people to be his children. Because of that, he called them to come to him. He accepted those people as right with himself. And those that he accepted, he also caused them to become great. 31So, because of all the things that God does for us, we can say this: If God is working on our behalf, nobody can really do anything against us. God did not even keep his own Son safe. Instead, he gave his Son to die on behalf of all of us. So certainly, God will continue to be kind to us. As well as his Son, he will give to us all things that we need. 33Nobody can say that God's people are guilty. God himself has accepted us as right with him. 34So nobody can say that God should still punish us. Nobody can say that, because Christ Jesus himself died on our behalf. And God raised him so that he became alive again after his death. Now Christ is sitting at God's right side in heaven. He himself is praying to God on our behalf.

Commentaries on Romans 8:32
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 32He that spared not his own Son - And can we, his sincere followers, doubt of the safety of our state, or the certainty of his protection? No: for if he loved us, Gentiles and Jews, so intensely as to deliver up to death his own Son for us all, can he withhold from us any minor blessing? Nay, will he not, on the contrary, freely give us all things? For if he told Abraham, who is the father of the faithful, and representative of us all, and with whom the…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 32He that spared not - Who did not retain, or keep from suffering and death. His own Son - Who thus gave the highest proof of love that a father could give, and the highest demonstration of his willingness to do good to those for whom he gave him. But delivered him up - Gave him into the hands of men, and to a cruel death; Note, Acts 2:23. For us all - For all Christians. The connection requires that this expression should be understood here with this…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 32-39Verses 32-39 All things whatever, in heaven and earth, are not so great a display of God's free love, as the gift of his coequal Son to be the atonement on the cross for the sin of man; and all the rest follows upon union with him, and interest in him. All things, all which can be the causes or means of any real good to the faithful Christian. He that has prepared a crown and a kingdom for us, will give us what we need in the way to it. Men may justify…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 32He who did not spare His own Son: This language recalls the story of Abraham, who was willing to offer his son Isaac to God (Genesis 22:12, 16). However, Isaac was not actually sacrificed. In contrast, God did not hold back his only Son. He allowed Jesus to be handed over and to suffer a shameful and painful death on the cross.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 3232. He--rather, "He surely." (It is a pity to lose the emphatic particle of the original). that spared not--"withheld not," "kept not back." This expressive phrase, as well as the whole thought, is suggested by Ge 22:12, where Jehovah's touching commendation of Abraham's conduct regarding his son Isaac seems designed to furnish something like a glimpse into the spirit of His own act in surrendering His own Son. "Take now (said the Lord to Abraham) thy…Read the comment
