Revised Version 1895
Isaiah 9:2-7
2The peopleH1471 that walked in darkness have seen a greatH1431 light: they that dwelt in the landH6440 of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3Thou hast multiplied the nation, thou hast increased their joy: they joy beforeH3117 thee according to the joy in harvest, as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4For the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, thou hast broken as in the day of Midian.
5For all the armour of the armed manH1368 in the tumult, and the garments rolled in blood, shall evenH3588 be for burning, for fuel of fire.
6For unto usH5921 a child is born, unto usH5921 a son is given; and the governmentH4951 shall be uponH5921 his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty GodH3068, EverlastingH5769 Father, Prince of PeaceH7965.
7Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, uponH5307 the throne of DavidH7971, and uponH5307 his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with judgmentH1697 and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORDH136 of hosts shall perform this.
