Daniel 11
Revised Version 1895
1And as for meH589, in the firstH259 yearH8141 of DariusH1867 the MedeH4075, I stoodH5975 upH5975 to confirm and strengthenH2388 him. 2And nowH6258 will I shew thee the truthH571. BeholdH2009, there shall standH5975 upH5975 yet threeH7969 kingsH4428 in PersiaH6539; and the fourthH7243 shall be farH1419 richer thanH4428 they allH3605: and when he is waxed strongH2393 throughH3605 his richesH6239, he shall stirH5782 upH5975 allH3605 againstH5046 the realmH4438 of GreeceH3120. 3And a mightyH1368 kingH4428 shall standH5975 upH5975, that shall ruleH4910 with greatH7227 dominionH4910, and doH6213 according to his will. 4And when he shall standH5975 upH5975, his kingdomH4438 shall be brokenH7665, and shall be dividedH2673 toward the fourH702 windsH7307 of heavenH8064; but notH3808 to his posterityH319, norH3808 according to his dominionH4910 wherewith he ruledH4910; for his kingdomH4438 shall be pluckedH5428 upH5975, evenH3588 for othersH312 beside theseH428. 5And the kingH4428 of the southH5045 shall be strongH2388, and one of his princesH8269; and he shall be strongH2388 aboveH5921 him, and have dominionH4475; his dominionH4475 shall be a greatH7227 dominionH4475. 6And at the endH7093 of yearsH8141 they shall joinH2266 themselves togetherH2266; and the daughterH1323 of the kingH4428 of the southH5045 shall comeH935 to the kingH4428 of the northH6828 to makeH5414 an agreement: but sheH1931 shall notH3808 retainH6113 the strengthH2220 of herH413 armH2220; neitherH3808 shall he standH5975, norH3808 his armH2220; but sheH1931 shall be givenH5414 upH5975, and they that broughtH935 herH413, and he that begat herH413, and he that strengthenedH2388 herH413 in thoseH2388 timesH6256. 7But outH2388 of a shoot from herH413 rootsH8328 shall one standH5975 upH5975 in his placeH935, which shall comeH935 unto the armyH2428, and shall enterH935 intoH413 the fortressH4581 of the kingH4428 of the northH6828, and shall dealH6213 againstH413 them, and shall prevailH5975: 8And also their godsH430, with their molten images, and with their goodly vesselsH3627 of silverH3701 and of goldH2091, shall he carryH935 captive intoH935 EgyptH4714; and he shall refrainH5975 some yearsH8141 from the kingH4428 of the northH6828. 9And he shall comeH935 intoH413 the realmH4438 of the kingH4428 of the southH5045, but he shall returnH7725 intoH413 his own landH127. 10And his sonsH1121 shall warH1624, and shall assembleH622 a multitudeH1995 of greatH7227 forcesH2428 which shall comeH935 on, and overflowH7857, and passH5674 throughH5674: and they shall returnH7725 and warH1624, evenH5704 to his fortressH4581. 11And the kingH4428 of the southH5045 shall be movedH3318 with choler, and shall comeH3318 forthH3318 and fightH3898 with him, even with the kingH4428 of the northH6828: and he shall setH5414 forthH3318 a greatH7227 multitudeH1995, and the multitudeH1995 shall be givenH5414 intoH3027 his handH3027. 12And the multitudeH1995 shall be liftedH5375 upH5375, and his heartH3824 shall be exaltedH7311: and he shall castH5307 downH5307 tensH7239 of thousandsH7239, but he shall notH3808 prevailH5810. 13And the kingH4428 of the northH6828 shall returnH7725, and shall setH5975 forth a multitudeH1995 greaterH1419 thanH4480 the formerH7223; and he shall comeH935 on at the endH7093 of the timesH6256, even of yearsH8141, with a greatH1419 armyH2428 and with muchH7227 substanceH2428. 14And in thoseH1992 timesH6256 there shall manyH7227 standH5975 upH5375 againstH5921 the kingH4428 of the southH5045: also the childrenH1121 of the violentH6530 among thy peopleH5971 shall liftH5375 themselvesH1992 upH5375 to establishH5975 the visionH2377; but they shall fallH3782. 15SoH3808 the kingH4428 of the northH6828 shall comeH935, and castH8210 upH5975 a mount, and takeH3920 a well fenced cityH5892: and the armsH2220 of the southH5045 shall notH3808 withstandH5975, neitherH3808 his chosen peopleH5971, neitherH3808 shall there be anyH369 strengthH2220 to withstandH5975. 16But he that cometh againstH413 him shall doH6213 accordingH413 to his ownH6440 will, and noneH369 shall standH5975 beforeH6440 him: and he shall standH5975 in the glorious landH776, and in his handH3027 shall be destructionH3615. 17And he shall setH7760 his faceH6440 to comeH935 with the strength of his wholeH3605 kingdomH4438, and uprightH3477 onesH5975 with him; and he shall doH6213 his pleasure: and he shall giveH5414 him the daughterH1323 of womenH802, to corruptH7843 herH3605; but sheH3808 shall notH3808 standH5975, neitherH3808 be for him. 18After this shall he turnH7725 his faceH6440 unto the islesH339, and shall takeH7725 manyH7227: but a prince shall causeH7725 the reproachH2781 offered by him to ceaseH7673; yea, moreoverH1115, he shall causeH7725 his reproachH2781 to turnH7725 upon him. 19Then he shall turnH7725 his faceH6440 towardH6440 the fortressesH4581 of his ownH6440 landH776: but he shall stumbleH3782 and fallH5307, and shall notH3808 be foundH4672. 20Then shall standH5975 upH5975 in his placeH5975 one that shall cause an exactor to passH5674 throughH5674 the glory of the kingdomH4438: but withinH5921 fewH259 daysH3117 he shall be destroyed, neitherH3808 in angerH639, norH3808 in battleH4421. 21And in his placeH5414 shall standH5975 upH5975 a contemptible personH935, to whom they had notH3808 givenH5414 the honour of the kingdomH4438: but he shall comeH935 in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdomH4438 by flatteries. 22And with the armsH2220 of a floodH7858 shall they be swept awayH7857 from beforeH6440 him, and shall be brokenH7665; yea, also the princeH5057 of the covenantH1285. 23And afterH4480 the league madeH6213 with him he shall work deceitfullyH4820: for he shall comeH5927 upH5927, and shall become strongH6105, with a smallH4592 peopleH1471. 24In time of security shall he comeH935 evenH5704 uponH5921 the fattest places of the provinceH4082; and he shall doH6213 that whichH834 his fathersH1 have notH3808 doneH6213, norH3808 his fathers’H1 fathersH1; he shall scatter among them prey, and spoilH7998, and substance: yea, he shall deviseH2803 his devices againstH5921 the strong holds, evenH5704 for a time. 25And he shall stirH5782 upH5975 his powerH3581 and his courageH3824 againstH5921 the kingH4428 of the southH5045 with a greatH1419 armyH2428; and the kingH4428 of the southH5045 shall warH4421 in battleH4421 with an exceedingH3966 greatH1419 and mightyH6099 armyH2428: but he shall notH3808 standH5975, for they shall deviseH2803 devices againstH5921 him. 26Yea, they that eatH398 of his meat shall destroyH7665 him, and his armyH2428 shall overflowH7857: and manyH7227 shall fallH5307 downH5307 slainH2491. 27And as for bothH8147 theseH1696 kingsH4428, their heartsH3824 shall be to do mischief, and they shall speakH1696 liesH3577 at one tableH7979: but it shall notH3808 prosperH6743; for yet the endH7093 shall be at the time appointedH4150. 28Then shall he returnH7725 intoH5921 his landH776 with greatH1419 substance; and his heartH3824 shall be againstH5921 the holyH6944 covenantH1285; and he shall doH6213 his pleasure, and returnH7725 to his own landH776. 29At the time appointedH4150 he shall returnH7725, and comeH935 intoH935 the southH5045; but it shall notH3808 be in the latterH314 time as it was in the formerH7223. 30For shipsH6716 of KittimH3794 shall comeH935 againstH5921 him; therefore he shall be grieved, and shall returnH7725, and have indignationH2194 againstH5921 the holyH6944 covenantH1285, and shall doH6213 his pleasure: he shall evenH6213 returnH7725, and have regardH995 unto them that forsakeH5800 the holyH6944 covenantH1285. 31And armsH2220 shall standH5975 on his partH4480, and they shall profaneH2490 the sanctuaryH4720, even the fortressH4581, and shall takeH5493 awayH5493 the continualH8548 burnt offering; and they shall setH5414 upH5975 the abominationH8251 that maketh desolateH8074. 32And such as doH6213 wickedlyH7561 against the covenantH1285 shall he pervert by flatteries: but the peopleH5971 that knowH3045 their GodH430 shall be strongH2388, and doH6213 exploits. 33And they that be wiseH7919 among the peopleH5971 shall instructH5971 manyH7227: yet they shall fallH3782 by the swordH2719 and by flameH3852, by captivityH7628 and by spoilH961, manyH7227 daysH3117. 34NowH7227 when they shall fallH3782, they shall be holpen with a littleH4592 helpH5826: but manyH7227 shall joinH3867 themselvesH5921 unto them with flatteries. 35And someH4480 of them that be wiseH7919 shall fallH3782, to refineH6884 them, and to purifyH1305, and to makeH3588 them whiteH3835, evenH5704 to the time of the endH7093: becauseH3588 it is yet for the time appointedH4150. 36And the kingH4428 shall doH6213 accordingH5921 to his will; and he shall exaltH7311 himselfH1431, and magnifyH1431 himselfH1431 aboveH5921 everyH3605 godH410, and shall speakH1696 marvelousH6381 things againstH5921 the GodH410 of godsH410: and he shall prosperH6743 tillH5704 the indignationH2195 be accomplishedH6213; for that which is determinedH2782 shall be doneH6213. 37NeitherH3808 shall he regardH995 the godsH430 his fathersH1, norH3808 the desireH2532 of womenH802, norH3808 regardH995 anyH3605 godH430: for he shall magnifyH1431 himselfH1431 aboveH5921 allH3605. 38But in his placeH3653 shall he honour the godH433 of fortressesH4581: and a godH433 whomH834 his fathersH1 knewH3045 notH3808 shall he honour with goldH2091, and silverH3701, and with preciousH3368 stonesH68, and pleasant things. 39And he shall dealH6213 with the strongestH4581 fortressesH4581 by the help of a strangeH5236 godH433; whosoever acknowledgeth him he will increaseH7235 with gloryH3519: and he shall cause them to ruleH4910 over manyH7227, and shall divideH2505 the landH127 for a priceH4242. 40And at the time of the endH7093 shall the kingH4428 of the southH5045 contend with him: and the kingH4428 of the northH6828 shall comeH935 againstH5921 him like a whirlwind, with chariotsH7393, and with horsemenH6571, and with manyH7227 shipsH591; and he shall enterH935 intoH935 the countriesH776, and shall overflowH7857 and passH5674 throughH5674. 41He shall enterH935 also intoH935 the glorious landH776, and manyH7227 countriesH776 shall be overthrownH3782: but theseH428 shall be deliveredH4422 outH3027 of his handH3027, EdomH123, and MoabH4124, and the chief of the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983. 42He shall stretchH7971 forthH7971 his handH3027 also uponH1961 the countriesH776: and the landH776 of EgyptH4714 shall notH3808 escapeH6413. 43But he shall have power over the treasuresH4362 of goldH2091 and of silverH3701, and over allH3605 the preciousH2530 things of EgyptH4714: and the LibyansH3864 and the EthiopiansH3569 shall be at his stepsH4703. 44But tidingsH8052 outH3318 of the eastH4217 and outH3318 of the northH6828 shall trouble him: and he shall goH3318 forthH3318 with greatH1419 furyH2534 to destroyH8045 and utterlyH8045 to make awayH3318 manyH7227. 45And he shall plantH5193 the tentsH168 of his palace betweenH996 the seaH3220 and the glorious holyH6944 mountainH2022; yet he shall comeH935 to his endH7093, and noneH369 shall helpH5826 him.
