Matthew 22:17-21

Tell us then, what do You think? Is it 1permissible to pay a 23poll-tax to 4Caesar, or not?”

But Jesus perceived their 5malice, and said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?

Show Me the 6coin used for the poll-tax.” And they brought Him a 7denarius.

And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”

They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He said to them, “8Then pay to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.”
