Mark 15:21-41
211And they compelled a passer-by coming from the country, Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and 2Rufus), to carry His cross.
223Then they brought Him to the place 4Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull. 23And they tried to give Him 5wine mixed with myrrh; but He did not take it. 24And they crucified Him, and 6divided up His garments among themselves, casting 7lots for them to decide 8what each man would take. 25Now it was the 910third hour 11when they crucified Him. 26The inscription of the charge against Him 12read, “13THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
27And they crucified two 14rebels with Him, one on His right and one on His left.15 29Those passing by were 16hurling abuse at Him, 17shaking their heads and saying, “Ha! You who are going to 18destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30save Yourself by coming down from the cross!” 31In the same way the chief priests also, along with the scribes, were mocking Him among themselves and saying, “19He saved others; 20He cannot save Himself! 32Let this Christ, 21the King of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe!” 22Those who were crucified with Him were also insulting Him.
3323When the 2425sixth hour came, darkness 26fell over the whole land until the 2728ninth hour. 34At the 2930ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “31Eloi, Eloi, lema sabaktanei?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” 35And when some of the bystanders heard Him, they began saying, “Look! He is calling for Elijah!” 36And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink, saying, “32Let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.” 3733But Jesus let out a loud cry, and 34died. 3835And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 3936And when the centurion, who was standing 37right in front of Him, saw that He 38died in this way, he said, “Truly this Man was 39the Son of God!”
4040Now there were also some women watching from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of 41James 42the 43Less and Joses, and 44Salome. 41When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and 45serve Him; and there were many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
