1 Peter 2:7-9

7 1This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers, “2A stone which the builders 3rejected, This became the 4chief cornerstone,” 8and, “5A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; 6for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, 7and to this they were also appointed.

9But you are 8a chosen people, a royal 9priesthood, a 10holy nation, 11a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you 12out of darkness into His marvelous light;
