Song of Songs 1:6-14
Do not stare at me because I am 1swarthy, For the sun has burned me. My 2mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me 3caretaker of the vineyards, But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.7Tell me, O you 4whom my soul loves, Where do you 5pasture your flock, Where do you make it 6lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who 7veils herself Beside the flocks of your 8companions?”
“9If you yourself do not know, 10Most beautiful among women, Go forth on the trail of the flock And pasture your young goats By the tents of the shepherds.
“11To me, 12my darling, you are like My 13mare among the chariots of Pharaoh.10Your 14cheeks are lovely with ornaments, Your neck with strings of 15beads.”
“16We will make for you ornaments of gold With beads of silver.”
“17While the king was at his 18table, My 1920perfume gave forth its fragrance.13My beloved is to me a pouch of 21myrrh Which lies all night between my breasts.14My beloved is to me a cluster of 22henna blossoms In the vineyards of 23Engedi.”
