Song of Songs 1:2-7
2“1May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your 2love is better than wine.3Your 3oils have a pleasing fragrance, Your 4name is like 5purified oil; Therefore the 67maidens love you.4Draw me after you and let us run together! The 8king has brought me into his chambers.” “9We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will 10extol your 11love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.”
5“12I am black but 13lovely, O 14daughters of Jerusalem, Like the 15tents of 16Kedar, Like the curtains of Solomon.6Do not stare at me because I am 17swarthy, For the sun has burned me. My 18mother’s sons were angry with me; They made me 19caretaker of the vineyards, But I have not taken care of my own vineyard.7Tell me, O you 20whom my soul loves, Where do you 21pasture your flock, Where do you make it 22lie down at noon? For why should I be like one who 23veils herself Beside the flocks of your 24companions?”
