Romans 6:5-22
5For 1if we have become 2united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be 3in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our 4old 5self was 6crucified with Him, in order that our 7body of sin might be 8done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for 9he who has died is 10freed from sin.
8Now 11if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9knowing that Christ, having been 12raised from the dead, 13is never to die again; 14death no longer is master over Him. 10For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11Even so consider yourselves to be 15dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12Therefore do not let sin 16reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13and do not go on 17presenting 18the members of your body to sin as 19instruments of unrighteousness; but 20present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as 21instruments of righteousness to God. 14For 22sin shall not 23be master over you, for 24you are not under law but 25under grace.
15What then? 26Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? 27May it never be! 16Do you not 28know that when you present yourselves to someone as 29slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of 30sin 31resulting in death, or of obedience 32resulting in righteousness? 17But 33thanks be to God that 34though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that 35form of teaching to which you were committed, 18and having been 36freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. 1937I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just 38as you presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness, 39resulting in further lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, 40resulting in sanctification.
20For 41when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21Therefore what 4243benefit were you then 44deriving 45from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is 46death. 22But now having been 47freed from sin and 48enslaved to God, you 49derive your 5051benefit, 52resulting in sanctification, and 53the outcome, eternal life.
