21Then the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097, “Beholdהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009nowנָ֥אna'H4994,I will surely doעָשִׂ֖יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697;goוְלֵ֛ךְve.LekhH1980therefore, bringהָשֵׁ֥בha.ShevH7725backH7725the youngהַנַּ֖עַרha.Na.'arH5288manH5288Absalomאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃'av.sha.LomH53.”

22Joabיוֹאָ֨בyo.'AvH3097fellוַיִּפֹּל֩vai.yi.PolH5307on his faceפָּנָ֥יוpa.NavH6440to the groundאַ֛רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776,prostratedוַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812himself and blessedוַיְבָ֣רֶךְvay.Va.rekhH1288the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428;then Joabיוֹאָ֡בyo.'AvH3097saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Todayהַיּוֹם֩hai.yOmH3117your servantעַבְדְּךָ֜'av.de.KhaH5650knowsיָדַ֨עya.Da'H3045that I have foundמָצָ֨אתִיma.Tza.tiH4672favorחֵ֤ןchenH2580in your sightבְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙be.'ei.Nei.khaH5869,O my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113,the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,in that the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428has performedעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213therequestדְּבַ֥רde.VarH1697of his servantעַבְדֶּֽךָ׃av.dekhH5650.”

23So Joabיוֹאָ֖בyo.'AvH3097aroseוַיָּ֥קָםvai.Ya.komH6965and wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980toGeshurגְּשׁ֑וּרָהge.Shu.rahH1650and broughtוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935Absalomאַבְשָׁל֖וֹם'av.sha.LomH53to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ פye.ru.sha.LimH3389.

24However the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Let him turnיִסֹּ֣בyi.SoH5437tohis own houseבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004,and let him not seeיִרְאֶ֑הyir.'EhH7200my faceוּפָנַ֖יu.fa.NaiH6440.”So Absalomאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙'av.sha.lOmH53turnedוַיִּסֹּ֤בvai.yi.SoH5437to his own houseבֵּית֔וֹbei.ToH1004and did not seeרָאָֽה׃ סra.'AhH7200the king’sהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428faceוּפְנֵ֥יu.fe.NeiH6440.

25Now in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478was noלֹא־lo'-H3808oneאִישׁ־'ish-H376as handsomeיָפֶ֛הya.PehH3303as Absalomוּכְאַבְשָׁל֗וֹםu.khe.'av.sha.LomH53,so highlyמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966praisedלְהַלֵּ֣לle.ha.LelH1984;from the soleמִכַּ֤ףmi.KafH3709of his footרַגְלוֹ֙rag.LoH7272to the crownH6936of his headH6936there was noלֹא־lo'-H3808defectH4140in him.

26When hecutוּֽבְגַלְּחוֹ֮u.ve.ga.le.ChoH1548the hair of his headרֹאשׁוֹ֒ro.ShoH7218(and it was at the endמִקֵּ֨ץmi.KetzH7093of every yearH3117that he cutיְגַלֵּ֔חַye.ga.Le.achH1548it,for it was heavyכָבֵ֥דkha.VedH3515on him so he cutוְגִלְּח֑וֹve.gi.le.ChoH1548it), he weighedוְשָׁקַל֙ve.sha.KalH8254the hairשְׂעַ֣רse.'ArH8181of his headרֹאשׁ֔וֹro.ShoH7218at 200מָאתַ֥יִםma.Ta.yimH3967shekelsשְׁקָלִ֖יםshe.ka.LimH8255by the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428weightבְּאֶ֥בֶןbe.'E.venH68.

27To Absalomלְאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙le.'av.sha.lOmH53there were bornוַיִּֽוָּלְד֤וּvai.yi.val.DuH3205threeשְׁלוֹשָׁ֣הshe.lo.ShahH7969sonsבָנִ֔יםva.NimH1121,and oneאַחַ֖ת'a.ChatH259daughterוּבַ֥תu.VatH1323whose nameוּשְׁמָ֣הּu.she.MahH8034wasTamarתָּמָ֑רta.MarH8559;she was a womanאִשָּׁ֖ה'i.ShahH802of beautifulיְפַ֥תye.FatH3303appearanceמַרְאֶֽה׃ פmar.'EhH4758.

28Now Absalomאַבְשָׁל֛וֹם'av.sha.LomH53livedוַיֵּ֧שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427two fullיָמִ֑יםya.MimH3117yearsשְׁנָתַ֣יִםshe.na.Ta.yimH8141in Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖םbi.ru.sha.LimH3389,and did not seeרָאָֽה׃ra.'AhH7200the king’sהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428faceוּפְנֵ֥יu.fe.NeiH6440.

29Then Absalomאַבְשָׁל֜וֹם'av.sha.LomH53sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֨חvai.yish.LachH7971for Joabיוֹאָ֗בyo.'AvH3097,to sendלִשְׁלֹ֤חַlish.Lo.achH7971him to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,but he wouldאָבָ֖ה'a.VahH14not comeלָב֣וֹאla.Vo'H935to him. So he sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֥חvai.yish.LachH7971againעוֹד֙'OdH5750a secondשֵׁנִ֔יתshe.NitH8145timeH8145,but he wouldאָבָ֖ה'a.VahH14not comeלָבֽוֹא׃la.Vo'H935.

30Therefore he saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his servantsעֲבָדָ֜יו'a.va.DavH5650, “Seeרְאוּ֩re.'UH7200,Joab’sיוֹאָ֤בyo.'AvH3097fieldחֶלְקַ֨תchel.KatH2513is nextH413to mine, and he has barleyשְׂעֹרִ֔יםse.'o.RimH8184thereשָׁ֣םshamH8033;goלְכ֖וּle.KhuH1980and setוְהַצִּית֣וּהָve.ho.tzi.tei.haH3341it on fireבָאֵ֑שׁva.'EshH784.”So Absalom’sאַבְשָׁל֛וֹם'av.sha.LomH53servantsעַבְדֵ֧י'av.DeiH5650setוַיַּצִּ֜תוּvai.ya.Tzi.tuH3341thefieldהַחֶלְקָ֖הha.chel.KahH2513on fireבָּאֵֽשׁ׃ פba.'EshH784.

31Then Joabיוֹאָ֔בyo.'AvH3097aroseוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965,cameוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Absalomאַבְשָׁל֖וֹם'av.sha.LomH53at his houseהַבָּ֑יְתָהha.Ba.ye.tahH1004and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Whyלָ֣מָּהLa.mahH4100have your servantsעֲבָדֶ֛ךָ'a.va.De.khaH5650setהִצִּ֧יתוּhi.Tzi.tuH3341myfieldהַחֶלְקָ֥הha.chel.KahH2513on fireבָּאֵֽשׁ׃ba.'EshH784?”

32Absalomאַבְשָׁל֣וֹם'av.sha.LomH53answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Joabיוֹאָ֡בyo.'AvH3097, “Beholdהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009,I sentשָׁלַ֣חְתִּיsha.Lach.tiH7971for you, sayingלֵאמֹ֡רle.MorH559, ‘Comeבֹּ֣אbo'H935hereהֵ֠נָּהHe.nahH2008,that I may sendוְאֶשְׁלְחָה֩ve.'esh.le.ChahH7971you to the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,to sayלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, “Whyלָ֤מָּהLa.mahH4100have I comeבָּ֙אתִי֙ba.tiH935from Geshurמִגְּשׁ֔וּרmi.ge.ShurH1650?It would be betterט֥וֹבTovH2896for me stillעֹ֣ד'odH5750to be thereשָׁ֑םShamH8033.”’Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258therefore, let me seeאֶרְאֶה֙'er.'EhH7200the king’sהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440,and ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518thereיֶשׁ־yesh-H3426is iniquityעָוֹ֖ן'a.VonH5771in me, let him putH4191me to deathH4191.”

33So when Joabיוֹאָ֣בyo.'AvH3097cameוַיָּבֹ֨אvai.ya.Vo'H935to the kingהַמֶּלֶךְ֮ha.me.leKhH4428and toldוַיַּגֶּד־vai.ya.ged-H5046him, he calledוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121for Absalomאַבְשָׁלוֹם֙'av.sha.lOmH53.Thus he cameוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and prostratedוַיִּשְׁתַּ֨חוּvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812himself on his faceאַפָּ֛יו'a.PavH639to the groundאַ֖רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, andthe kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428kissedוַיִּשַּׁ֥קvai.yi.ShakH5401Absalomלְאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃ פle.'av.sha.LomH53.
