8The sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּ֔וֹןa.MonH5983cameוַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙vai.ye.tze.'UH3318out and drewוַיַּעַרְכ֥וּvai.ya.'ar.KhuH6186up in battleמִלְחָמָ֖הmil.cha.MahH4421arrayat the entranceפֶּ֣תַחPe.tachH6607of thecityהַשָּׁ֑עַרha.Sha.'arH8179,while the Arameansוַאֲרַ֨םva.'a.RamH758of Zobahצוֹבָ֤אtzo.Va'H6678and of Rehobוּרְחוֹב֙u.re.chOvH7340and the menH382ofTobH382and Maacahוּמַֽעֲכָ֔הu.ma.'a.KhahH4601wereby themselvesלְבַדָּ֖םle.va.DamH905in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃ba.sa.DehH7704.
9Now when Joabיוֹאָ֗בyo.'AvH3097sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200thatthe battleפְּנֵ֣י הַמִּלְחָמָ֔הpe.Nei ha.mil.cha.MahH6440H4421was set againstאֵלָיו֙'e.LavH413him in frontמִפָּנִ֖יםmi.pa.NimH6440and in the rearוּמֵֽאָח֑וֹרu.me.'a.ChorH268,he selectedוַיִּבְחַ֗רvai.yiv.CharH977from allמִכֹּל֙mi.KolH3605the choiceבְּחוּרֵ֣יbe.chu.ReiH977men of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.yis.ra.'elH3478,and arrayedוַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְvai.ya.'a.RokhH6186themagainstלִקְרַ֥אתlik.RatH7122the Arameansאֲרָֽם׃'a.RamH758.
10But the remainderיֶ֣תֶרYe.terH3499of the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971he placedנָתַ֕ןna.TanH5414in the handבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027of Abishaiאַבְשַׁ֣י'av.ShaiH52his brotherאָחִ֑יו'a.ChivH251,and he arrayedוַֽיַּעֲרֹ֕ךְvai.ya.'a.RokhH6186themagainstלִקְרַ֖אתlik.RatH7122the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּֽוֹן׃a.MonH5983.
11He saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518the Arameansאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758are tooמִמֶּ֔נִּיmi.Me.niH4480strongתֶּחֱזַ֤קte.che.ZakH2388for me, then you shall helpלִֽישׁוּעָ֑הli.shu.'AhH3444me, but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518the sonsבְּנֵ֤יbe.NeiH1121of Ammonעַמּוֹן֙'a.mOnH5983are tooמִמְּךָ֔mi.me.KhaH4480strongיֶחֱזְק֣וּye.chez.KuH2388for you, then I will comeוְהָלַכְתִּ֖יve.ha.lakh.TiH1980to helpלְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַֽle.ho.Shi.a'H3467you.
