8Then Saulשָׁא֗וּלsha.'UlH7586disguisedוַיִּתְחַפֵּ֣שׂvai.yit.cha.PesH2664himself by puttingוַיִּלְבַּשׁ֙vai.yil.BashH3847on otherאֲחֵרִ֔ים'a.che.RimH312clothesבְּגָדִ֣יםbe.ga.DimH899,and wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980,he and twoוּשְׁנֵ֤יu.she.NeiH8147menH376with him, and they cameוַיָּבֹ֥אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to the womanהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802by nightלָ֑יְלָהLa.ye.lahH3915;and he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Conjureקָֽסֳמִיka.so.mi-H7080up for me, pleaseנָ֥אna'H4994, andbringוְהַ֣עֲלִיve.Ha.'a.liH5927up for me whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834I shallnameאֹמַ֖ר'o.MarH559to you.”

9But the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֜הha.'i.ShahH802saidוַתֹּ֨אמֶרva.To.merH559to him, “Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,you knowיָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ya.Da'.taH3045whatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586has doneעָשָׂ֣ה'a.SahH6213,howאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834he has cutהִכְרִ֛יתhikh.RitH3772offH3772those who are mediumsהָאֹב֥וֹתha.'o.VotH178and spiritistsהַיִּדְּעֹנִ֖יhai.yi.de.'o.NiH3049from the landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776.Whyוְלָמָ֥הve.la.MahH4100are you then layingH5367a snareH5367for my lifeבְּנַפְשִׁ֖יbe.naf.ShiH5315to bringH4191about my deathH4191?”

10Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586vowedוַיִּשָּׁ֤בַֽעvai.yi.Sha.va'H7650to her by the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֖הba.Yah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֕הYah.wehH3068livesחַי־chai-H2416,noאִֽם־'im-H518punishmentעָוֹ֖ן'a.VonH5771shall comeיִקְּרֵ֥ךְyi.ke.RekhH7136upon you for thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088thingבַּדָּבָ֥רba.da.VarH1697.”

11Then the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802saidוַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙va.To.merH559, “Whomמִ֖יmiH4310shall I bringאַֽעֲלֶה־'a.'a.leh-H5927up for you?” And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Bringהַֽעֲלִי־ha.'a.li-H5927up Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֖לshe.mu.'ElH8050for me.”

12When the womanהָֽאִשָּׁה֙ha.'i.ShahH802sawוַתֵּ֤רֶאva.Te.re'H7200Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050,she criedוַתִּזְעַ֖קva.tiz.'AkH2199out with a loudגָּד֑וֹלga.DolH1419voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963;and the womanהָאִשָּׁ֨הha.'i.ShahH802spokeוַתֹּאמֶר֩va.to.MerH559to Saulשָׁא֧וּלsha.'UlH7586,sayingלֵאמֹ֛רle.MorH559, “Whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100have you deceivedרִמִּיתָ֖נִיri.mi.Ta.niH7411me? For you are Saulשָׁאֽוּל׃sha.'UlH7586.”

13The kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to her, “Do not be afraidתִּֽירְאִ֖יtir.'IH3372;but whatמָ֣הmahH4100do you seeרָאִ֑יתra.'ItH7200?”And the womanהָֽאִשָּׁה֙ha.'i.ShahH802saidוַתֹּ֤אמֶרva.To.merH559to Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586, “I seeרָאִ֖יתִיra.'I.tiH7200adivineH430beingH430comingעֹלִ֥ים'o.LimH5927up out of the earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.”

14He saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to her, “Whatמַֽה־mah-H4100is his formתָּאֳר֔וֹto.'o.RoH8389?”And she saidוַתֹּ֗אמֶרva.To.merH559, “An oldזָקֵן֙za.KenH2205manאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376is comingעֹלֶ֔ה'o.LehH5927up, andhe is wrappedעֹטֶ֖ה'o.TehH5844with a robeמְעִ֑ילme.'IlH4598.”And Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586knewוַיֵּ֤דַעvai.Ye.da'H3045that it was Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֣לshe.mu.'ElH8050, andhe bowedוַיִּקֹּ֥דvai.yi.KodH6915with his faceאַפַּ֛יִם'a.Pa.yimH639to the groundאַ֖רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776and did homageוַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃ סvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812.

15Then Samuelשְׁמוּאֵל֙she.mu.'ElH8050saidH559to Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586, “Whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100have you disturbedהִרְגַּזְתַּ֖נִיhir.gaz.Ta.niH7264me by bringingלְהַעֲל֣וֹתle.ha.'a.LotH5927me up?” And Saulשָׁ֠אוּלSha.'ulH7586answeredעָנָ֣נִי'a.Na.niH6030, “I am greatlyמְאֹ֜דme.'OdH3966distressedצַר־tzar-H6887;for the Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֣ים׀u.fe.lish.TimH6430are wagingH3898warH3898against me, andGodוֵֽאלֹהִ֞יםve.lo.HimH430has departedסָ֤רsarH5493from me andnoוְלֹֽא־ve.lo'-H3808longerע֗וֹדodH5750answersH6030me, eitherגַּ֤םgamH1571throughבְּיַֽד־be.yad-H3027prophetsהַנְּבִיאִם֙ha.ne.vi.'ImH5030orגַּם־gam-H1571by dreamsבַּ֣חֲלֹמ֔וֹתba.cha.lo.MotH2472;therefore I have calledוָאֶקְרָאֶ֣הva.'ek.ra.'EhH7121you, that you may makeלְהוֹדִיעֵ֖נִיle.ho.di.'E.niH3045knownH3045to me whatמָ֥הmahH4100I should doאֶעֱשֶֽׂה׃ ס'e.'e.SehH6213.”

16Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whyוְלָ֖מָּהve.La.mahH4100then do you askתִּשְׁאָלֵ֑נִיtish.'a.Le.niH7592me, since the Lordוַיהוָ֛הva.Yah.wehH3068has departedסָ֥רsarH5493from you and has becomeוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961your adversaryעָרֶֽךָ׃'a.Re.khaH6145?

17The Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068has doneוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213accordinglyH3512as He spokeדִּבֶּ֣רdi.BerH1696throughבְּיָדִ֑יbe.ya.DiH3027me; for the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068has tornוַיִּקְרַ֨עvai.yik.Ra'H7167the kingdomהַמַּמְלָכָה֙ha.mam.la.KhahH4467out of your handמִיָּדֶ֔ךָmi.ya.De.khaH3027and givenוַֽיִּתְּנָ֖הּvai.yi.te.NahH5414it to your neighborלְרֵעֲךָ֥le.re.'a.KhaH7453,to Davidלְדָוִֽד׃le.da.VidH1732.

18As you did notobeyשָׁמַ֙עְתָּ֙ בְּק֣וֹלsha.Ma'.ta be.KolH8085 H6963the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068and did not executeעָשִׂ֥יתָ'a.Si.taH6213His fierceחֲרוֹן־cha.ron-H2740wrathאַפּ֖וֹ'a.PoH639on Amalekבַּעֲמָלֵ֑קba.'a.ma.LekH6002,soעַל־ כֵּן֙'al- kenH5921 H3651the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has doneעָשָֽׂה־'a.sah-H6213thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088thingהַדָּבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697to you thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.

19Moreover the Lordיְ֠הוָהYah.wehH3068will alsoגַּ֣םgamH1571giveוְיִתֵּ֣ןve.yi.TenH5414over Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לYis.ra.'ElH3478alongH5973with you into the handsבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430,therefore tomorrowוּמָחָ֕רu.ma.CharH4279you and your sonsוּבָנֶ֖יךָu.va.Nei.khaH1121will be with me. Indeedגַּ֚םgamH1571the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068will giveיִתֵּ֥ןyi.TenH5414over the armyמַחֲנֵ֣הma.cha.NehH4264of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478into the handsבְּיַד־be.yad-H3027of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃pe.lish.TimH6430!”
