40Then Elijahאֵלִיָּ֨הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559to them, “Seizeתִּפְשׂ֣וּ׀tif.SuH8610the prophetsנְבִיאֵ֣יne.vi.'EiH5030of Baalהַבַּ֗עַלha.Ba.'alH1168;do not let oneאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376of them escapeיִמָּלֵ֥טyi.ma.LetH4422.”So they seizedוַֽיִּתְפְּשׂ֑וּםvai.yit.pe.SumH8610them; and Elijahאֵלִיָּ֙הוּ֙'e.li.Ya.huH452broughtH3381them downוַיּוֹרִדֵ֤םvai.yo.ri.DemH3381tothe brookנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158Kishonקִישׁ֔וֹןki.ShonH7028,and slewוַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֖םvai.yish.cha.TemH7819them thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

41Now Elijahאֵלִיָּ֙הוּ֙'e.li.Ya.huH452saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Ahabלְאַחְאָ֔בle.'ach.'AvH256, “Goעֲלֵ֖ה'a.LehH5927up, eatאֱכֹ֣ל'e.KholH398and drinkוּשְׁתֵ֑הu.she.TehH8354;for there is the soundק֖וֹלKolH6963of the roarהֲמ֥וֹןha.MonH1995of a heavyshowerהַגָּֽשֶׁם׃ha.Ga.shemH1653.”

42So Ahabאַחְאָ֖ב'ach.'AvH256wentוַיַּעֲלֶ֥הvai.ya.'a.LehH5927up to eatלֶאֱכֹ֣לle.'e.KholH398and drinkוְלִשְׁתּ֑וֹתve.lish.TotH8354.But Elijahוְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּve.'E.li.Ya.huH452wentעָלָ֨ה'a.LahH5927up to the topרֹ֤אשׁroshH7218ofCarmelהַכַּרְמֶל֙ha.kar.MelH3760; and hecrouchedוַיִּגְהַ֣רvai.yig.HarH1457downH1457on the earthאַ֔רְצָה'Ar.tzahH776and putוַיָּ֥שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760his faceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440betweenבֵּ֥יןbeinH996his kneesבִּרְכָּֽיו׃be.ra.khovH1290.

43He saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his servantנַעֲר֗וֹna.'a.RoH5288, “Goעֲלֵֽה־'a.leh-H5927up nowנָא֙na'H4994,lookהַבֵּ֣טha.BetH5027towardדֶּֽרֶךְ־de.rekh-H1870the seaיָ֔םYamH3220.”So he wentוַיַּ֙עַל֙vai.Ya.'alH5927up and lookedוַיַּבֵּ֔טvai.ya.BetH5027and saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “ThereH369is nothingמְא֑וּמָהme.'U.mahH369 H3972.”And he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Goשֻׁ֖בshuvH7725backH7725”sevenשֶׁ֥בַעShe.va'H7651timesפְּעָמִֽים׃pe.'a.MimH6471.

44It cameוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961about at the seventhבַּשְּׁבִעִ֔יתba.she.vi.'ItH7637time,that he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Beholdהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009,a cloudעָ֛ב'avH5645as smallקְטַנָּ֥הke.ta.NahH6996as a man’sאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376handכְּכַף־ke.khaf-H3709is comingעֹלָ֣ה'o.LahH5927up from the seaמִיָּ֑םmi.YamH3220.”And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Goעֲלֵ֨ה'a.LehH5927up, sayאֱמֹ֤ר'e.MorH559to Ahabאַחְאָב֙'ach.'AvH256, ‘Prepareאֱסֹ֣ר'e.SorH631your chariotand goוָרֵ֔דva.RedH3381downH3381, so that the heavyshowerהַגָּֽשֶׁם׃ha.Ga.shemH1653does not stopיַעַצָרְכָ֖הya.'a.tza.re.KhahH6113you.’”
