8Then the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to him, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

9“Ariseק֣וּםkumH6965,goלֵ֤ךְlekhH1980toZarephathצָרְפַ֙תָה֙tza.re.Fa.tahH6886,whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834belongs to Sidonלְצִיד֔וֹןle.tzi.DonH6721,and stayוְיָשַׁבְתָּ֖ve.ya.shav.TaH3427thereשָׁ֑םShamH8033;beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,I have commandedצִוִּ֥יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680a widowאַלְמָנָ֖ה'al.ma.NahH490thereשָׁ֛םshamH8033to provideלְכַלְכְּלֶֽךָ׃le.khal.ke.Le.khaH3557for you.”

10So he aroseוַיָּ֣קָם׀vai.Ya.komH6965and wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to Zarephathצָרְפַ֗תָהtza.re.Fa.tahH6886,and when he cameוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935to the gateפֶּ֣תַחPe.tachH6607of the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892,beholdוְהִנֵּֽה־ve.hi.neh-H2009,a widowאַלְמָנָ֖ה'al.ma.NahH490was thereשָׁ֛םshamH8033gatheringמְקֹשֶׁ֣שֶׁתme.ko.She.shetH7197sticksעֵצִ֑ים'e.TzimH6086; andhe calledוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121to her and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “Pleaseנָ֨אna'H4994getקְחִי־ke.chi-H3947me a littleמְעַט־me.'at-H4592waterמַ֛יִםMa.yimH4325in ajarבַּכְּלִ֖יba.ke.LiH3627,that I may drinkוְאֶשְׁתֶּֽה׃ve.'esh.TehH8354.”

11As she was goingוַתֵּ֖לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980to getלָקַ֑חַתla.Ka.chatH3947it,he calledוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121to her and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “Pleaseנָ֥אna'H4994bringלִֽקְחִי־lik.chi-H3947me a pieceפַּת־pat-H6595of breadלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899in your handבְּיָדֵֽךְ׃be.ya.DekhH3027.”

12But she saidוַתֹּ֗אמֶרva.To.merH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430livesחַי־chai-H2416,I haveיֶשׁ־yesh-H3426noאִם־'im-H518breadמָע֔וֹגma.'ogH4580,onlyכִּ֣י אִם־ki 'im-H3588 H518a handfulמְלֹ֤א כַף־me.Lo' khaf-H4393 H3709of flourקֶ֙מַח֙ke.machH7058in thebowlבַּכַּ֔דba.KadH3537and a littleוּמְעַט־u.me.'at-H4592oilשֶׁ֖מֶןShe.menH8081in the jarבַּצַּפָּ֑חַתba.tza.Pa.chatH6835;and beholdH2009,I am gatheringמְקֹשֶׁ֜שֶׁתme.ko.She.shetH7197a fewשְׁנַ֣יִםshe.Na.yimH8147sticksעֵצִ֗ים'e.TzimH6086that I may goוּבָ֙אתִי֙u.Va.tiH935in and prepareוַעֲשִׂיתִ֙יהוּ֙va.'a.si.Ti.huH6213for me and my sonוְלִבְנִ֔יve.liv.NiH1121,that we may eatוַאֲכַלְנֻ֖הוּva.'a.khal.Nu.huH398it anddieוָמָֽתְנוּ׃va.Ma.te.nuH4191.”

13Then Elijahאֵלִיָּ֙הוּ֙'e.li.Ya.huH452saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to her, “Do not fearתִּ֣ירְאִ֔יtir.'IH3372;goבֹּ֖אִיBo.'iH935,doעֲשִׂ֣י'a.SiH6213as you have saidכִדְבָרֵ֑ךְkhid.va.RekhH1697,but makeעֲשִׂי־'a.si-H6213me a littleקְטַנָּ֤הke.ta.NahH6996breadעֻגָ֨ה'u.GahH5692cakeH5692fromit firstבָרִאשֹׁנָה֙va.ri.sho.NahH7223and bringוְהוֹצֵ֣אתְve.ho.TzetH3318itout to me, and afterwardבָּאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃ סba.'a.cha.ro.NahH314you may makeתַּעֲשִׂ֖יta.'a.SiH6213onefor yourself and for your sonוְלִבְנֵ֔ךְve.liv.NekhH1121.

14For thusכֹה֩khohH3541saysאָמַ֨ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘Thebowlכַּ֤דkadH3537of flourהַקֶּ֙מַח֙ha.Ke.machH7058shall not be exhaustedתִכְלָ֔הtikh.LahH3615,norH3808shall the jarוְצַפַּ֥חַתve.tza.Pa.chatH6835of oilהַשֶּׁ֖מֶןha.She.menH8081be emptyתֶחְסָ֑רtech.SarH2637,untilעַ֠ד'adH5704the dayי֧וֹםYomH3117that the Lordיְהוָ֛הha.shemH3068sendsתֵּתti.ten-H5414rainגֶּ֖שֶׁםGe.shemH1653on the faceפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440of the earthהָאֲדָמָֽה׃ha.'a.da.MahH127.’”

15So she wentוַתֵּ֥לֶךְva.Te.lekhH1980and didוַתַּעֲשֶׂ֖הva.ta.'a.SehH6213according to the wordכִּדְבַ֣רkid.VarH1697of Elijahאֵלִיָּ֑הוּ'e.li.Ya.huH452,and she and he and her householdוּבֵיתָ֖הּu.vei.TahH1004ateוַתֹּ֧אכַלva.To.khalH398for manydaysיָמִֽים׃ya.MimH3117.
