15For it cameH1961about,when Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732was in EdomH112,and Joabיוֹאָב֙yo.'AvH3097the commanderשַׂ֣רsarH8269of the armyהַצָּבָ֔אha.tza.Va'H6635had goneבַּעֲל֗וֹתba.'a.LotH5927up to buryלְקַבֵּ֖רle.ka.BerH6912the slainהַחֲלָלִ֑יםha.cha.la.LimH2491, and hadstruckH5221downH5221everyכָּל־kol-H3605maleזָכָ֖רza.KharH2145in EdomH112

18They aroseוַיָּקֻ֙מוּ֙vai.ya.Ku.muH6965from Midianמִמִּדְיָ֔ןmi.mid.YanH4080and cameוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935toParanפָּארָ֑ןpa.RanH6290;and they tookוַיִּקְחוּ֩vai.yik.ChuH3947menH376with them from Paranמִפָּארָ֗ןmi.pa.RanH6290and cameוַיָּבֹ֤אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935to Egyptמִצְרַ֙יִם֙mitz.Ra.yimH4714,to Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֣הpar.'OhH6547kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,who gaveוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414him a houseבַ֗יִתVa.yitH1004and assignedאָ֣מַר'A.marH559him foodוְלֶ֙חֶם֙ve.Le.chemH3899and gaveנָ֥תַןNa.tanH5414him landוְאֶ֖רֶץve.'E.retzH776.

20The sisterאֲח֣וֹת'a.ChotH269of Tahpenesתַּחְפְּנֵ֗יסtach.pe.NeisH8472boreוַתֵּ֨לֶדva.Te.ledH3205his sonבְּנ֔וֹbe.NoH1121Genubathגְּנֻבַ֣תge.nu.VatH1592,whom Tahpenesתַחְפְּנֵ֔סtach.pe.NesH8472weanedוַתִּגְמְלֵ֣הוּva.tig.me.Le.huH1580in Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֑הpar.'OhH6547houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004;and Genubathגְנֻבַת֙ge.nu.VatH1592was in Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֔הpar.'OhH6547houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004amongH8432the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Pharaohפַרְעֹֽה׃far.'OhH6547.

21Butwhen Hadadוַהֲדַ֞דva.ha.DadH1908heardשָׁמַ֣עsha.Ma'H8085in Egyptבְּמִצְרַ֗יִםbe.mitz.Ra.yimH4714that Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732sleptשָׁכַ֤בsha.KhavH7901with his fathersאֲבֹתָ֔יו'a.vo.TavH1and that Joabיוֹאָ֣בyo.'AvH3097the commanderשַֽׂר־sar-H8269of the armyהַצָּבָ֑אha.tza.Va'H6635was deadמֵ֖תmetH4191,Hadadהֲדַד֙ha.DadH1908saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֔הpar.'OhH6547, “SendH7971me awayH7971,that I may goוְאֵלֵ֥ךְve.'e.LekhH1980to my own countryאַרְצִֽי׃'ar.TziH776.”

22Then Pharaohפַרְעֹ֗הfar.'OhH6547saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “But whatמָה־mah-H4100have you lackedחָסֵר֙cha.SerH2638with me, that beholdH2009,you are seekingמְבַקֵּ֖שׁme.va.KeshH1245to goלָלֶ֣כֶתla.Le.khetH1980to your own countryאַרְצֶ֑ךָ'ar.Tze.khaH776?”And he answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559, “Nothingלֹ֔אLo'H3808;neverthelessH3588you must surelyH7971letH7971me goH7971.”

24He gatheredוַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץvai.yik.BotzH6908menH376to himself and becameוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961leaderשַׂר־sar-H8269of a maraudingגְּד֔וּדge.DudH1416bandH1416,after Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732slewבַּהֲרֹ֥גba.ha.RogH2026them of Zobah;and they wentוַיֵּלְכ֤וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980to Damascusדַמֶּ֙שֶׂק֙da.Me.sekH1834and stayedוַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּvai.Ye.she.vuH3427there, and reignedוַֽיִּמְלְכ֖וּvai.yim.le.KhuH4427in Damascusבְּדַמָּֽשֶׂק׃be.da.Ma.sekH1834.

25So he was an adversaryשָׂטָ֤ןsa.TanH7854to Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙le.Yis.ra.'ElH3478allכָּל־kol-H3605the daysיְמֵ֣יye.MeiH3117of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֔הshe.lo.MohH8010,along with the evilH7463that Hadadהֲדָ֑דha.DadH1908did;and he abhorredוַיָּ֙קָץ֙vai.Ya.kotzH6973Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478and reignedוַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427overעַל־'al-H5921Aramאֲרָֽם׃ פ'a.RamH758.

26ThenJeroboamוְיָרָבְעָם֩ve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֨טne.VatH5028,an Ephraimiteאֶפְרָתִ֜י'ef.ra.TiH673of Zeredahהַצְּרֵדָ֗הha.tze.re.DahH6868,Solomon’sלִשְׁלֹמֹ֑הlish.lo.MohH8010servantעֶ֖בֶד'E.vedH5650,whose mother’sאִמּוֹ֙'i.MoH517nameוְשֵׁ֤םve.ShemH8034was Zeruahצְרוּעָה֙tze.ru.'AhH6871,a widowאַלְמָנָ֔ה'al.ma.NahH490, alsorebelledוַיָּ֥רֶם יָ֖דvai.Ya.rem yadH7311 H3027against the kingבַּמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ba.Me.lekhH4428.

28Now the manוְהָאִ֥ישׁve.ha.'IshH376Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379was a valiantחָ֑יִלCha.yilH2428warriorגִּבּ֣וֹרgi.BorH1368, and whenSolomonשְׁלֹמֹ֜הshe.lo.MohH8010sawוַיַּ֨רְאvai.Yar'H7200that the youngהַנַּ֗עַרha.Na.'arH5288manH5288wasindustriousעֹשֵׂ֤ה מְלָאכָה֙'o.Seh me.la.KhahH4399 H6213,he appointedוַיַּפְקֵ֣דvai.yaf.KedH6485him over allלְכָל־le.kholH3605theforcedH5447laborH5447of the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of Josephיוֹסֵֽף׃ סyo.SefH3130.

29It cameוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961about at that timeבָּעֵ֣תba.'EtH6256,when Jeroboamוְיָֽרָבְעָ֖םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379wentיָצָ֣אya.Tza'H3318out of Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִָ֑םmi.ru.sha.LimH3389, thatthe prophetהַנָּבִ֜יאha.na.Vi'H5030Ahijahאֲחִיָּה֩'a.chi.YahH281the Shiloniteהַשִּׁילֹנִ֨יha.shi.lo.NiH7888foundוַיִּמְצָ֣אvai.yim.Tza'H4672him on the roadבַּדֶּ֗רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870. 35butI will takeוְלָקַחְתִּ֥יve.la.kach.TiH3947the kingdomהַמְּלוּכָ֖הha.me.lu.KhahH4410from his son’sבְּנ֑וֹbe.NoH1121handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027and giveוּנְתַתִּ֣יהָu.ne.ta.Ti.haH5414it to you, eventenעֲשֶׂ֥רֶת'a.Se.retH6235tribesהַשְּׁבָטִֽים׃ha.she.va.TimH7626.

36Butto his sonוְלִבְנ֖וֹve.liv.NoH1121I will giveאֶתֵּ֣ן'e.TenH5414oneאֶחָ֑ד'e.ChadH259tribeשֵֽׁבֶט־she.vet-H7626,that My servantעַ֠בְדִּי'Av.diH5650Davidלְדָֽוִיד־le.da.vid-H1732may haveהֱיֽוֹת־he.yot-H1961a lampH5215alwaysכָּֽל־ הַיָּמִ֤ים׀kal- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117beforeלְפָנַי֙le.fa.NaiH6440Me in Jerusalemבִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.Ru.sha.LimH3389,the cityהָעִיר֙ha.'IrH5892whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר שָֽׁם׃'a.Sher ShamH834 H8033I have chosenבָּחַ֣רְתִּיba.Char.tiH977for Myself to putלָשׂ֥וּםla.SumH7760My nameשְׁמִ֖יshe.MiH8034.

38Then it will be, that ifאִם־'im-H518you listenתִּשְׁמַע֮tish.Ma'H8085to allכָּל־kol-H3605that I commandאֲצַוֶּךָ֒'a.tza.ve.KhaH6680you and walkוְהָלַכְתָּ֣ve.ha.lakh.TaH1980in My waysבִדְרָכַ֗יvid.ra.KhaiH1870,and doוְעָשִׂ֨יתָve.'a.Si.taH6213whatH3477is rightהַיָּשָׁ֤רhai.ya.SharH3477in My sightבְּעֵינַי֙be.'ei.NaiH5869by observingלִשְׁמ֤וֹרlish.MorH8104My statutesחֻקּוֹתַי֙chu.ko.TaiH2708and My commandmentsוּמִצְוֹתַ֔יu.mitz.vo.TaiH4687,as My servantעַבְדִּ֑י'av.DiH5650Davidדָּוִ֣דda.VidH1732didעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213, then I will be with you andbuildוּבָנִ֨יתִיu.va.Ni.tiH1129you an enduringנֶאֱמָן֙ne.'e.ManH539houseבַֽיִת־va.yit-H1004as I builtבָּנִ֣יתִיba.Ni.tiH1129for Davidלְדָוִ֔דle.da.VidH1732,and I will giveוְנָתַתִּ֥יve.na.ta.TiH5414Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478to you.

39Thus I will afflictוַֽאעַנֶּ֛הva.'a.NehH6031thedescendantsזֶ֥רַעZe.ra'H2233of Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732for thisH2088,but not alwaysכָל־ הַיָּמִֽים׃ סkhol- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117.’”
