Matthew 27:25-30

25And all the people said, “1His blood shall be on us and on our children!” 26Then he released Barabbas 2for them; but after having Jesus 3scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

274Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into 5the 6Praetorium and gathered the whole Roman 78cohort around Him. 28They stripped Him and 9put a scarlet robe on Him. 2910And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a 11reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, “12Hail, King of the Jews!” 3013They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.
