Isaiah 53:2-12
For He grew up before Him like a 1tender 2shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has 3no stately form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should 4be attracted to Him.3He was 5despised and forsaken of men, A man of 6sorrows and 7acquainted with 8grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was 9despised, and we did not 10esteem Him.
Surely our 11griefs He Himself 12bore, And our 13sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, 14Smitten of 15God, and afflicted.5But He was 16pierced through for 17our transgressions, He was crushed for 18our iniquities; The 19chastening for our 20well-being fell upon Him, And by 21His scourging we are healed.6All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all To 22fall on Him.
He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not 23open His mouth; 24Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.8By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the 25living 26For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?9His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a 27rich man in His death, 28Because He had 29done no violence, Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
But the Lord was pleased To 30crush Him, 3132putting Him to grief; If 33He would render Himself as a guilt 34offering, He will see 35His 36offspring, He will prolong His days, And the 37good 38pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.11As a result of the 39anguish of His soul, He will 40see 41it and be satisfied; By His 42knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will 43bear their iniquities.12Therefore, I will allot Him a 44portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out 4546Himself to death, And was 47numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself 48bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.
