Acts 6:2-6

2So the twelve summoned the 1congregation of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable for us to neglect the word of God in order to serve tables. 3Therefore, 2brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, 3full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. 4But we will 4devote ourselves to prayer and to the 5ministry of the word.” 5The statement found approval with the whole 6congregation; and they chose 7Stephen, a man 8full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and 9Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and 10Nicolas, a 1112proselyte from 13Antioch. 6And these they brought before the apostles; and after 14praying, they 15laid their hands on them.
