Acts 2:25-38

25For David says of Him, ‘1I saw the Lord always in my presence; For He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.26Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted; Moreover my flesh also will live in hope;27Because You will not abandon my soul to 2Hades, 3Nor 4allow Your 5Holy One to 6undergo decay.28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with Your presence.’

29“7Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the 8patriarch David that he both 9died and 10was buried, and 11his tomb is 12with us to this day. 30And so, because he was 13a prophet and knew that 14God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one 15of his descendants on his throne, 31he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of 16the Christ, that 17He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh 18suffer decay. 32This Jesus 19God raised up again, to which we are all 20witnesses. 33Therefore having been exalted 2122to the right hand of God, and 23having received from the Father 24the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has 25poured forth this which you both see and hear. 34For it was not David who ascended into 26heaven, but he himself says: ‘27The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,35Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’ 36Therefore let all the 28house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both 29Lord and 30Christ--this Jesus 31whom you crucified.”

37Now when they heard this, they were 32pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “33Brethren, 3435what shall we do?” 38Peter said to them, “36Repent, and each of you be 37baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
