Acts 11:17-26

17Therefore if 1God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, 2who was I that I could 3stand in God’s way?” 18When they heard this, they 4quieted down and 5glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the 6repentance that leads to life.”

197So then those who were scattered because of the 8persecution that occurred in connection with Stephen made their way 9to 10Phoenicia and 11Cyprus and 12Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews alone. 20But there were some of them, men of 13Cyprus and 14Cyrene, who came to 15Antioch and began speaking to the 1617Greeks also, 1819preaching the Lord Jesus. 21And 20the hand of the Lord was with them, and 21a large number who believed turned to the Lord. 22The 22news about them 23reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent 24Barnabas off 25to 26Antioch. 23Then when he arrived and 27witnessed 28the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with 29resolute heart to remain true to the Lord; 24for he was a good man, and 30full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And 31considerable 32numbers were 33brought to the Lord. 25And he left for 34Tarsus to look for Saul; 26and when he had found him, he brought him to 35Antioch. And for an entire year they 36met with the church and taught considerable 37numbers; and 38the disciples were first called 39Christians in 40Antioch.
