Thessalonians 1:3-8

We ought always 1to give thanks to God for you, 2brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the 3love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater;

therefore, we ourselves 4speak proudly of you among 5the churches of God for your 6perseverance and faith 7in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure.

This is a 8plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be 9considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

10For after all 11it is only just 12for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

and to give relief to you who are afflicted 13and to us as well 14 15when the Lord Jesus will be revealed 16from heaven 17with 18His mighty angels 19in flaming fire,

dealing out retribution to those who 20do not know God and to those who 21do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
