Context of 2 Samuel 6:15
13Now when the bearers of the ark of Adonai had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling. 14Meanwhile, David was dancing before Adonai with all his might while he was wearing a linen ephod. So David and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of Adonai with shouting and with the sound of the shofar. 16But as the ark of Adonai entered the city of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before Adonai, so she despised him in her heart. 17They brought in the ark of Adonai and set it in its place in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before Adonai.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 12-19Verses 12-19 It became evident, that happy was the man who had the ark near him. Christ is indeed a Stone of stumbling, and a Rock of offence, to those that are disobedient; but to those that believe, he is a Corner-stone, elect, precious, 1Pe 2:6-8. Let us be religious. Is the ark a blessing to others' houses? We may have it, and the blessing of it, without fetching it away from our neighbours. David, at first setting out, offered sacrifices to God. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 15In 2 Samuel 15:10, rams’ horns announce the crowning of a new king. In 2 Samuel 20:1, they announce rebellion. Here, the horns celebrate placing the ark in its own tent (see study note on 2 Samuel 6:17). This action symbolically placed Yahweh’s throne in Jerusalem.Read the comment
