1 Timothy 6:9-19

91But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and 2a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For 3the love of money is a root of all 4sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have 5wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

11But 6flee from these things, you 7man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, 8faith, 9love, 10perseverance and gentleness. 1211Fight the good fight of 12faith; 13take hold of the eternal life 14to which you were called, and you made the good 15confession in the presence of 16many witnesses. 1317I charge you in the presence of God, who 18gives life to all things, and of 19Christ Jesus, who testified the 20good confession 21before Pontius Pilate, 14that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the 22appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which He will 23bring about at 24the proper time--He who is 25the blessed and 26only Sovereign, 27the King of 28kings and 29Lord of 30lords, 1631who alone possesses immortality and 32dwells in unapproachable light, 33whom no man has seen or can see. 34To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

17Instruct those who are rich in 35this present world 36not to be conceited or to 37fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, 38who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18Instruct them to do good, to be rich in 39good 40works, 41to be generous and ready to share, 1942storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may 43take hold of that which is life indeed.
