New American Standard Bible 1995
1 Peter 3:15-17
15but 1sanctify 2Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready 3to make a 4defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the 5hope that is in you, yet 6with gentleness and 78reverence;
169and keep a 10good conscience so that in the thing in which 11you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.
17For 12it is better, 13if 14God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.
