23And the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aiהָעַ֖יha.'AiH5857they tookתָּ֣פְשׂוּTa.fe.suH8610aliveחָ֑יChaiH2416,and broughtוַיַּקְרִ֥בוּvai.yak.Ri.vuH7126him to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091.

24And it came to pass, when Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֡לYis.ra.'ElH3478had made an endכְּכַלּ֣וֹתke.kha.LotH3615of slayingלַהֲרֹג֩la.ha.RogH2026all the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֨יyo.she.VeiH3427of Aiהָעַ֜יha.'AiH5857in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶ֗הba.sa.DehH7704,in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּר֙ba.mid.BarH4057wherein they chasedרְדָפ֣וּםre.da.FumH7291them, and when they were all fallenוַֽיִּפְּל֥וּvai.yi.pe.LuH5307on the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחֶ֖רֶבChe.revH2719,until they were consumedתֻּמָּ֑םtu.MamH8552,that all the Israelitesיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478returnedוַיָּשֻׁ֤בוּvai.ya.Shu.vuH7725unto Aiהָעַ֔יha.'AiH5857,and smoteוַיַּכּ֥וּvai.ya.KuH5221it with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחָֽרֶב׃Cha.revH2719.

25And so it was, thatall that fellהַנֹּ֨פְלִ֜יםha.No.fe.LimH5307that dayבַּיּ֤וֹםbai.YomH3117,both of menמֵאִ֣ישׁme.'IshH376and womenאִשָּׁ֔ה'i.ShahH802, weretwelveשְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָׂ֖רshe.Neim 'a.SarH6240 H8147thousandאָ֑לֶף'A.lefH505, evenall the menאַנְשֵׁ֥י'an.SheiH582of Aiהָעָֽי׃ha.'AiH5857.

26For Joshuaוִיהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙vi.ho.Shu.a'H3091drewH7725not his handיָד֔וֹya.DoH3027backהֵשִׁ֣יבhe.ShivH7725,wherewith he stretched outנָטָ֖הna.TahH5186the spearבַּכִּיד֑וֹןba.ki.DonH3591,until he had utterly destroyedהֶחֱרִ֔יםhe.che.RimH2763all the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427of Aiהָעָֽי׃ha.'AiH5857.

27Only the cattleהַבְּהֵמָ֗הha.be.he.MahH929and the spoilוּשְׁלַל֙u.she.LalH7998of that cityהָעִ֣ירha.'IrH5892Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478took for a preyבָּזְז֥וּba.ze.ZuH962unto themselves, according unto the wordכִּדְבַ֣רkid.VarH1697of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068which he commandedצִוָּ֖הtzi.VahH6680Joshuaיְהוֹשֻֽׁעַ׃ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091.

28And Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091burntוַיִּשְׂרֹ֥ףvai.yis.RofH8313Aiהָעָ֑יha.'AiH5857,and madeוַיְשִׂימֶ֤הָvay.si.Me.haH7760it an heapתֵּל־tel-H8510for everעוֹלָם֙o.LamH5769, evena desolationשְׁמָמָ֔הshe.ma.MahH8077unto this dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.

29And the kingמֶ֧לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Aiהָעַ֛יha.'AiH5857he hangedתָּלָ֥הta.LahH8518on a treeהָעֵ֖ץha.'EtzH6086until eventideעֵ֣ת הָעָ֑רֶב'et ha.'A.revH6153 H6256:and as soon as the sunהַשֶּׁמֶשׁ֩ha.she.MeshH8121was downוּכְב֣וֹאu.khe.Vo'H935,Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091commandedצִוָּ֨הtzi.VahH6680that they should takeH3381his carcaseנִבְלָת֣וֹniv.la.ToH5038downוַיֹּרִ֧ידוּvai.yo.Ri.duH3381from the treeהָעֵ֗ץha.'EtzH6086,and castוַיַּשְׁלִ֤יכוּvai.yash.Li.khuH7993it at the enteringפֶּ֙תַח֙pe.tachH6607of the gateשַׁ֣עַרSha.'arH8179of the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892,and raiseוַיָּקִ֤ימוּvai.ya.Ki.muH6965thereon a greatגָּד֔וֹלga.DolH1419heapגַּל־gal-H1530of stonesאֲבָנִ֣ים'a.va.NimH68, that remainethunto this dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
