1Now it came to pass, when Adoni–zedekH139kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389had heardכִשְׁמֹ֨עַkhish.Mo.a'H8085howH3588Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091had takenלָכַ֨דla.KhadH3920Aiהָעַי֮ha.'AiH5857,and had utterly destroyedוַיַּחֲרִימָהּ֒vai.ya.cha.ri.MahH2763it; as he had doneעָשָׂ֤ה'a.SahH6213to Jerichoלִֽירִיחוֹ֙li.ri.ChoH3405and her kingוּלְמַלְכָּ֔הּu.le.mal.KahH4428,so he had doneעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213to Aiלָעַ֖יla.'AiH5857and her kingוּלְמַלְכָּ֑הּu.le.mal.KahH4428;and how the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֤יyo.she.VeiH3427of Gibeonגִבְעוֹן֙giv.'OnH1391had made peaceהִשְׁלִ֜ימוּhish.Li.muH7999with Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and were amongבְּקִרְבָּֽם׃be.kir.BamH7130them;
2That they fearedוַיִּֽירְא֣וּvai.yi.re.'UH3372greatlyמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966,because Gibeonגִּבְע֔וֹןgiv.'onH1391wasa greatגְּדוֹלָה֙ge.do.LahH1419cityעִ֤יר'irH5892,as oneכְּאַחַ֖תke.'a.ChatH259of the royalהַמַּמְלָכָ֑הha.mam.la.KhahH4467citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892, and because it wasgreaterגְדוֹלָה֙ge.do.LahH1419than Aiהָעַ֔יha.'AiH5857,and all the menאֲנָשֶׁ֖יהָ'a.na.Shei.haH582thereof weremightyגִּבֹּרִֽים׃gi.bo.RimH1368.

4Come upעֲלֽוּ־'a.lu-H5927unto me, and helpוְעִזְרֻ֔נִיve.'iz.Ru.niH5826me, that we may smiteוְנַכֶּ֖הve.na.KehH5221Gibeonגִּבְע֑וֹןgiv.'onH1391:for it hath made peaceהִשְׁלִ֥ימָהhish.Li.mahH7999with Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091and with the childrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
5Therefore the fiveחֲמֵ֣שֶׁת׀cha.Me.shetH2568kingsמַלְכֵ֣יmal.KheiH4428of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֗יha.'e.mo.RiH567,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֜םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Hebronחֶבְר֤וֹןchev.RonH2275,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Jarmuthיַרְמוּת֙yar.MutH3412,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Lachishלָכִ֣ישׁla.KhishH3923,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Eglonעֶגְל֔וֹןeg.LonH5700,gathered themselves togetherוַיֵּאָסְפ֨וּvai.ye.'a.se.FuH622,and went upוַֽיַּעֲל֜וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927,they and all their hostsמַֽחֲנֵיהֶ֑םma.cha.nei.HemH4264,and encampedוַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙vai.ya.cha.NuH2583before Gibeonגִּבְע֔וֹןgiv.'onH1391,and made warוַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּvai.yi.la.cha.MuH3898against it.

8And the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091,Fearתִּירָ֣אti.Ra'H3372them not: for I have deliveredנְתַתִּ֑יםne.ta.TimH5414them into thine handבְיָדְךָ֖ve.ya.de.KhaH3027;there shall not a manאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376of them standיַעֲמֹ֥דya.'a.ModH5975beforeבְּפָנֶֽיךָ׃be.fa.Nei.khaH6440thee.
10And the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068discomfitedוַיְהֻמֵּ֤םvay.hu.MemH2000them beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and slewוַיַּכֵּ֥םvai.ya.KemH5221them with a greatגְדוֹלָ֖הge.do.LahH1419slaughterמַכָּֽה־ma.kah-H4347at Gibeonבְּגִבְע֑וֹןbe.giv.'onH1391,and chasedוַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֗םvai.yir.de.FemH7291them along the wayדֶּ֚רֶךְDe.rekhH1870that goeth upמַעֲלֵ֣הma.'a.LehH4608to Beth–horonH1032,and smoteוַיַּכֵּ֥םvai.ya.KemH5221them to Azekahעֲזֵקָ֖ה'a.ze.KahH5825,and unto Makkedahמַקֵּדָֽה׃ma.ke.DahH4719.

12Then spakeיְדַבֵּ֤רye.da.BerH1696Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַ֙ye.ho.shu.a'H3091to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068in the dayבְּי֗וֹםbe.YomH3117when the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068delivered upתֵּ֤תtetH5414the Amoritesהָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔יha.'e.mo.RiH567beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559in the sightלְעֵינֵ֣יle.'ei.NeiH5869of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,Sunשֶׁ֚מֶשׁShe.meshH8121,stand thou stillדּ֔וֹםDomH1826upon Gibeonבְּגִבְע֣וֹןbe.giv.'onH1391;and thou, Moonוְיָרֵ֖חַve.ya.Re.achH3394,in the valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Ajalonאַיָּלֽוֹן׃'ai.ya.LonH357.
13And the sunהַשֶּׁ֜מֶשׁha.She.meshH8121stood stillוַיִּדֹּ֨םvai.yi.DomH1826,and the moonוְיָרֵ֣חַve.ya.Re.achH3394stayedעָמָ֗ד'a.MadH5975,until the peopleגּוֹי֙goyH1471had avengedיִקֹּ֥םyi.KomH5358themselves upon their enemiesאֹֽיְבָ֔יו'o.ye.VavH341. 14And there was no dayכַּיּ֤וֹםkai.YomH3117like that beforeלְפָנָ֣יוle.fa.NavH6440it or afterוְאַחֲרָ֔יוve.'a.cha.RavH310it, that the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068hearkenedלִשְׁמֹ֥עַlish.Mo.a'H8085unto the voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963of a manאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376:for the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068foughtנִלְחָ֖םnil.ChamH3898for Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פle.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
17And it was toldוַיֻּגַּ֖דvai.yu.GadH5046Joshuaלִיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַli.ho.Shu.a'H3091,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,The fiveחֲמֵ֣שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֔יםha.me.la.KhimH4428are foundנִמְצְאוּ֙nim.tze.'UH4672hidנֶחְבְּאִ֥יםnech.be.'ImH2244in a caveבַּמְּעָרָ֖הba.me.'a.RahH4631at Makkedahבְּמַקֵּדָֽה׃be.ma.ke.DahH4719.
18And Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Rollגֹּ֛לּוּGo.luH1556greatגְּדֹל֖וֹתge.do.LotH1419stonesאֲבָנִ֥ים'a.va.NimH68upon the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631,and setוְהַפְקִ֧ידוּve.haf.Ki.duH6485menאֲנָשִׁ֖ים'a.na.ShimH582by it for to keepלְשָׁמְרָֽם׃le.sha.me.RamH8104them:
19And stayתַּעֲמֹ֔דוּta.'a.Mo.duH5975ye not, butpursueרִדְפוּ֙rid.FuH7291afterאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310your enemiesאֹֽיְבֵיכֶ֔ם'o.ye.vei.KhemH341,and smite the hindmostוְזִנַּבְתֶּ֖םve.zi.nav.TemH2179of them; sufferתִּתְּנ֗וּםti.te.NumH5414them not to enterלָבוֹא֙la.Vo'H935into their citiesעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892:for the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430hath deliveredנְתָנָ֛םne.ta.NamH5414them into your handבְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃be.yed.KhemH3027.
20And it came to pass, when Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091and the childrenוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478had made an endכְּכַלּ֨וֹתke.kha.LotH3615of slayingלְהַכּוֹתָ֛םle.ha.ko.TamH5221them with a veryמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966greatגְדוֹלָֽה־ge.do.lah-H1419slaughterמַכָּ֥הma.KahH4347,till they were consumedתֻּמָּ֑םtu.MamH8552,that the restוְהַשְּׂרִידִים֙ve.ha.se.ri.DimH8300whichremainedשָׂרְד֣וּsa.re.DuH8277of them enteredוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935into fencedהַמִּבְצָֽר׃ha.miv.TzarH4013citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892.

22Then saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091,Openפִּתְח֖וּpit.ChuH6605the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631,and bring outוְהוֹצִ֣יאוּve.ho.Tzi.'uH3318those fiveחֲמֵ֛שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֥יםha.me.la.KhimH4428unto me out of the caveהַמְּעָרָֽה׃ha.me.'a.RahH4631.
23And they didוַיַּ֣עֲשׂוּvai.Ya.'a.suH6213so, and brought forthוַיֹּצִ֣יאוּvai.yo.Tzi.'uH3318those fiveחֲמֵ֛שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֥יםha.me.la.KhimH4428unto him out of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,the kingמֶ֤לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Hebronחֶבְרוֹן֙chev.rOnH2275,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jarmuthיַרְמ֔וּתyar.MutH3412,the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Lachishלָכִ֖ישׁla.KhishH3923, andthe kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Eglonעֶגְלֽוֹן׃eg.LonH5700.
24And it came to pass, when they brought outכְּֽהוֹצִיאָ֞םke.ho.tzi.'AmH3318those kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428unto Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַ֒ye.ho.shu.a'H3091,that Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121for all the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and saidוַ֠יֹּאמֶרVai.yo.merH559unto the captainsקְצִינֵ֞יke.tzi.NeiH7101of the menאַנְשֵׁ֤י'an.SheiH582of warהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421which wentהֶהָלְכ֣וּאhe.ha.le.Khu'H1980with him, Come nearקִרְב֗וּkir.VuH7126,putשִׂ֚ימוּSi.muH7760your feetרַגְלֵיכֶ֔םrag.lei.KhemH7272upon the necksצַוְּארֵ֖יtza.ve.ReiH6677of these kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428.And they came nearוַֽיִּקְרְב֔וּvai.yik.re.VuH7126,and putוַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760their feetרַגְלֵיהֶ֖םrag.lei.HemH7272upon the necksצַוְּארֵיהֶֽם׃tza.ve.rei.HemH6677of them.
25And Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Fearתִּֽירְא֖וּti.re.'UH3372not, nor be dismayedתֵּחָ֑תּוּte.Cha.tuH2865,be strongחִזְק֣וּchiz.KuH2388and of good courageוְאִמְצ֔וּve.'im.TzuH553:for thus shall the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068doיַעֲשֶׂ֤הya.'a.SehH6213to all your enemiesאֹ֣יְבֵיכֶ֔ם'o.ye.vei.KhemH341against whom ye fightנִלְחָמִ֥יםnil.cha.MimH3898.
26And afterwardאַֽחֲרֵי־'a.cha.rei-H310Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091smoteוַיַּכֵּ֨םvai.ya.KemH5221them, and slewוַיְמִיתֵ֔םvay.mi.TemH4191them, and hangedוַיִּתְלֵ֕םvai.yit.LemH8518them on fiveחֲמִשָּׁ֣הcha.mi.ShahH2568treesעֵצִ֑ים'e.TzimH6086:and they were hangingתְּלוּיִ֥םte.lu.YimH8518upon the treesהָעֵצִ֖יםha.'e.TzimH6086until the eveningהָעָֽרֶב׃ha.'A.revH6153.
27And it came to pass at the timeלְעֵ֣ת׀le.'EtH6256of the going downבּ֣וֹאBo'H935of the sunהַשֶּׁ֗מֶשׁha.She.meshH8121, thatJoshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091commandedצִוָּ֤הtzi.VahH6680,and they took them downוַיֹּֽרִידוּם֙vai.yo.ri.DumH3381off the treesהָעֵצִ֔יםha.'e.TzimH6086,and castוַיַּ֨שְׁלִכֻ֔םvai.Yash.li.KhumH7993them into the caveהַמְּעָרָ֖הha.me.'a.RahH4631wherein they had been hidנֶחְבְּאוּ־nech.be.'u-H2244,and laidוַיָּשִׂ֜מוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760greatגְּדֹלוֹת֙ge.do.lOtH1419stonesאֲבָנִ֤ים'a.va.NimH68in the cave’sהַמְּעָרָ֔הha.me.'a.RahH4631mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310, which remainuntil this veryעֶ֖צֶם'E.tzemH6106dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117.
28And that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091tookלָכַ֨דla.KhadH3920Makkedahמַקֵּדָה֩ma.ke.DahH4719,and smoteוַיַּכֶּ֣הָvai.ya.Ke.haH5221it with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחֶרֶב֮che.RevH2719,and the kingמַלְכָּהּ֒mal.KahH4428thereof he utterly destroyedהֶחֱרִ֣םhe.che.RimH2763,them, and all the soulsהַנֶּ֙פֶשׁ֙ha.Ne.feshH5315that weretherein; he letהִשְׁאִ֖ירhish.'IrH7604none remainשָׂרִ֑ידsa.RidH8300:and he didוַיַּ֙עַשׂ֙vai.Ya.'asH6213to the kingלְמֶ֣לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Makkedahמַקֵּדָ֔הma.ke.DahH4719as he didעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213unto the kingלְמֶ֥לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Jerichoיְרִיחֽוֹ׃ye.ri.ChoH3405.
30And the Lordיְהוָ֨הYah.wehH3068deliveredוַיִּתֵּן֩vai.yi.TenH5414it also, and the kingמַלְכָּהּ֒mal.KahH4428thereof, into the handבְּיַ֣דbe.YadH3027of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֘לYis.ra.'ElH3478;and he smoteוַיַּכֶּ֣הָvai.ya.Ke.haH5221it with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחֶ֗רֶבChe.revH2719,and all the soulsהַנֶּ֙פֶשׁ֙ha.Ne.feshH5315that weretherein; he letהִשְׁאִ֥ירhish.'IrH7604none remainשָׂרִ֑ידsa.RidH8300in it; but didוַיַּ֣עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213unto the kingלְמַלְכָּ֔הּle.mal.KahH4428thereof as he didעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213unto the kingלְמֶ֥לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Jerichoיְרִיחֽוֹ׃ סye.ri.ChoH3405.

33Then Horamהֹרָם֙ho.RamH2036kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Gezerגֶּ֔זֶרGe.zerH1507came upעָלָ֗ה'a.LahH5927to helpלַעְזֹ֖רla'.ZorH5826Lachishלָכִ֑ישׁla.KhishH3923;and Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091smoteוַיַּכֵּ֤הוּvai.ya.Ke.huH5221him and his peopleעַמּ֔וֹa.MoH5971,until he had leftהִשְׁאִֽיר־hish.'ir-H7604him none remainingשָׂרִֽיד׃sa.RidH8300.
34And from Lachishמִלָּכִ֖ישׁmi.la.KhishH3923Joshuaיְ֠הוֹשֻׁעַYe.ho.shu.a'H3091passedוַיַּעֲבֹ֣רvai.ya.'a.VorH5674unto Eglonעֶגְלֹ֑נָה'eg.Lo.nahH5700,and all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֥לYis.ra.'ElH3478with him; and they encampedוַיַּחֲנ֣וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583against it, and foughtוַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּvai.yi.la.cha.MuH3898against it:
35And they tookוַֽיִּלְכְּד֜וּהָvai.yil.ke.Du.haH3920it on that dayבַּיּ֤וֹםbai.YomH3117,and smoteוַיַּכּ֣וּהָvai.ya.Ku.haH5221it with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחֶ֔רֶבChe.revH2719,and all the soulsהַנֶּ֣פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315that weretherein he utterly destroyedהֶחֱרִ֑יםhe.che.RimH2763that dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117,according to all that he had doneעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213to Lachishלְלָכִֽישׁ׃ פle.la.KhishH3923.
37And they tookוַיִּלְכְּד֣וּהָvai.yil.ke.Du.haH3920it, and smoteוַיַּכּֽוּהָ־vai.ya.ku.ha-H5221it with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחֶ֠רֶבChe.revH2719,and the kingמַלְכָּ֨הּmal.KahH4428thereof, and all the citiesעָרֶ֜יהָ'a.Rei.haH5892thereof, and all the soulsהַנֶּ֤פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315that weretherein; he leftהִשְׁאִ֣ירhish.'IrH7604none remainingשָׂרִ֔ידsa.RidH8300,according to all that he had doneעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213to Eglonלְעֶגְל֑וֹןle.'eg.LonH5700;but destroyedוַיַּחֲרֵ֣םvai.ya.cha.RemH2763it utterly, and all the soulsהַנֶּ֖פֶשׁha.Ne.feshH5315that were therein.
