4And Abijahאֲבִיָּ֗ה'a.vi.YahH29stood upוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965upon mountלְהַ֣רle.HarH2022Zemaraimצְמָרַ֔יִםtze.ma.Ra.yimH6787, which isin mountבְּהַ֣רbe.HarH2022Ephraimאֶפְרָ֑יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669,and saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Hearשְׁמָע֖וּנִיshe.ma.'U.niH8085me, thou Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֥םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379,and all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478;
5Ought ye not to knowלָדַ֔עַתla.Da.'atH3045that the Lordיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478gaveנָתַ֨ןna.TanH5414the kingdomמַמְלָכָ֧הmam.la.KhahH4467over Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478to Davidלְדָוִ֛ידle.da.VidH1732for everלְעוֹלָ֑םle.'o.LamH5769, evento him and to his sonsוּלְבָנָ֖יוu.le.va.NavH1121by a covenantבְּרִ֥יתbe.RitH1285of saltמֶֽלַח׃ סMe.lachH4417?
6Yet Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֣םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֔טne.VatH5028,the servantעֶ֖בֶד'E.vedH5650of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֣הshe.lo.MohH8010the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732,is risen upוַיָּ֙קָם֙vai.Ya.komH6965,and hath rebelledוַיִּמְרֹ֖דvai.yim.RodH4775against his lordאֲדֹנָֽיו׃'a.do.NavH113.
7And there are gatheredוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908unto him vainרֵקִים֙re.KimH7386menאֲנָשִׁ֤ים'a.na.ShimH582,the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Belialבְלִיַּ֔עַלve.li.Ya.'alH1100,and have strengthenedוַיִּֽתְאַמְּצ֖וּvai.yit.'a.me.TzuH553themselves against Rehoboamרְחַבְעָ֣םre.chav.'AmH7346the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Solomonשְׁלֹמֹ֑הshe.lo.MohH8010,when Rehoboamוּרְחַבְעָ֗םu.re.chav.'AmH7346was youngנַ֙עַר֙na.'arH5288and tenderheartedוְרַךְ־ לֵבָ֔בve.rakh- le.VavH3824H7390,and could not withstandהִתְחַזַּ֖קhit.cha.ZakH2388themלִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃lif.nei.HemH6440.
8And now ye thinkאֹֽמְרִ֗ים'o.me.RimH559to withstandלְהִתְחַזֵּק֙le.hit.cha.ZekH2388the kingdomלִפְנֵי֙ מַמְלֶ֣כֶתlif.Nei mam.Le.khetH4467H6440of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068in the handבְּיַ֖דbe.YadH3027of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Davidדָוִ֑ידda.VidH1732; and ye bea greatרָ֔בRavH7227multitudeהָמ֣וֹןha.MonH1995, and there arewith you goldenזָהָ֔בza.HavH2091calvesעֶגְלֵ֣י'eg.LeiH5695,which Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֖םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379madeעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213you for godsלֵאלֹהִֽים׃le.lo.HimH430.
9Have ye not cast outהִדַּחְתֶּם֙hi.dach.TemH5080the priestsכֹּהֲנֵ֣יko.ha.NeiH3548of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Aaronאַהֲרֹ֖ן'a.ha.RonH175,and the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּ֑םve.hal.vi.YimH3881,and have madeוַתַּעֲשׂ֨וּva.ta.'a.SuH6213you priestsכֹּהֲנִים֙ko.ha.NimH3548after the manner of the nationsכְּעַמֵּ֣יke.'a.MeiH5971of otherlandsהָאֲרָצ֔וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776?so that whosoever comethהַבָּ֗אha.Ba'H935to consecrateלְמַלֵּ֨א יָד֜וֹle.ma.Le' ya.DoH3027H4390himself with a youngבֶּן־ בָּקָר֙ben- ba.KarH1241H1121bullockבְּפַ֤רbe.FarH6499and sevenשִׁבְעָ֔הshiv.'AhH7651ramsוְאֵילִ֣םve.'ei.LimH352, the samemay be a priestכֹהֵ֖ןkho.HenH3548of them that arenoH3808godsאֱלֹהִֽים׃ ס'E.lo.HimH430.
10But as for us, the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068isour Godאֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430,and we have not forsakenעֲזַבְנֻ֑הוּ'a.zav.Nu.huH5800him; and the priestsוְכֹ֨הֲנִ֜יםve.Kho.ha.NimH3548,which ministerמְשָׁרְתִ֤יםme.sha.re.TimH8334unto the Lordלַֽיהוָה֙la.Yah.wehH3068, arethe sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175,and the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּ֖םve.hal.vi.YimH3881wait upon theirbusinessבַּמְלָֽאכֶת׃bam.La.khetH4399:

12And, behold, Godהָאֱלֹהִ֧ים׀ha.'E.lo.HimH430himself is with us for ourcaptainבָרֹ֜אשׁva.RoshH7218,and his priestsוְכֹהֲנָ֛יוve.kho.ha.NavH3548with soundingהַתְּרוּעָ֖הha.te.ru.'AhH8643trumpetsוַחֲצֹצְר֥וֹתva.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689to cry alarmלְהָרִ֣יעַle.ha.Ri.a'H7321against you. O childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,fightתִּלָּֽחֲמ֛וּti.la.cha.MuH3898ye not against the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵֽי־'e.lo.hei-H430of your fathersאֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1;for ye shall not prosperתַצְלִֽיחוּ׃tatz.Li.chuH6743.
13But Jeroboamוְיָֽרָבְעָ֗םve.ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379caused an ambushmentהַמַּאְרָ֔בha.ma'.RavH3993to comeלָב֖וֹאla.Vo'H935aboutהֵסֵב֙he.SevH5437behindמֵֽאַחֲרֵיהֶ֑םme.'a.cha.rei.HemH310them: so they were beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063,and the ambushmentוְהַמַּאְרָ֖בve.ha.ma'.RavH3993wasbehindמֵאַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃me.'a.cha.rei.HemH310them.
14And when Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063looked backוַיִּפְנ֣וּvai.yif.NuH6437,behold, the battleהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421wasbeforeפָּנִ֣יםpa.NimH6440and behindוְאָח֔וֹרve.'a.ChorH268:and they criedוַֽיִּצְעֲק֖וּvai.yitz.'a.KuH6817unto the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,and the priestsוְהַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔יםve.ha.Ko.ha.NimH3548soundedמַחְצְרִ֖יםma.cha.tzo.tze.rimH2690with the trumpetsבַּחֲצֹצְרֽוֹת׃ba.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689.
15Then the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063gave a shoutוַיָּרִ֖יעוּvai.ya.Ri.'uH7321:and as the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063shoutedבְּהָרִ֙יעַ֙be.ha.Ri.a'H7321,it came to pass, that Godוְהָאֱלֹהִ֗יםve.ha.'E.lo.HimH430smoteנָגַ֤ףna.GafH5062Jeroboamיָֽרָבְעָם֙ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379and all Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440Abijahאֲבִיָּ֖ה'a.vi.YahH29and Judahוִיהוּדָֽה׃vi.hu.DahH3063.
17And Abijahאֲבִיָּ֥ה'a.vi.YahH29and his peopleוְעַמּ֖וֹve.'a.MoH5971slewוַיַּכּ֥וּvai.ya.KuH5221them with a greatרַבָּ֑הra.BahH7227slaughterמַכָּ֣הma.KahH4347:so there fell downוַיִּפְּל֤וּvai.yi.pe.LuH5307slainחֲלָלִים֙cha.la.LimH2491of Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֔לmi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478fiveחֲמֵשׁ־cha.mesh-H2568hundredמֵא֥וֹתme.'otH3967thousandאֶ֖לֶף'E.lefH505chosenבָּחֽוּר׃ba.ChurH977menאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376.
18Thus the childrenבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478were broughtוַיִּכָּנְע֥וּvai.yi.ka.ne.'UH3665under at that timeבָּעֵ֣תba.'EtH6256,and the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063prevailedוַיֶּֽאֶמְצוּ֙vai.ye.'em.TzuH553,because they reliedנִשְׁעֲנ֔וּnish.'a.NuH8172upon the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of their fathersאֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃'a.vo.tei.HemH1.
19And Abijahאֲבִיָּה֮'a.vi.YahH29pursuedוַיִּרְדֹּ֣ףvai.yir.DofH7291afterאַחֲרֵ֣י'a.cha.ReiH310Jeroboamיָרָבְעָם֒ya.ra.ve.'AmH3379,and tookוַיִּלְכֹּ֤דvai.yil.KodH3920citiesעָרִ֔ים'a.RimH5892from him, Beth–elH1008with the townsבְּנוֹתֶ֔יהָbe.no.Tei.haH1323thereof, and Jeshanahיְשָׁנָ֖הye.sha.NahH3466with the townsבְּנוֹתֶ֑יהָbe.no.Tei.haH1323thereof, and Ephrainעֶפְרַ֖יִןef.ronH6085with the townsוּבְנֹתֶֽיהָ׃u.ve.no.Tei.haH1323thereof.
21But Abijahאֲבִיָּ֔הוּ'a.vi.Ya.huH29waxed mightyוַיִּתְחַזֵּ֣קvai.yit.cha.ZekH2388,and marriedוַיִּ֨שָּׂא־vai.Yi.sa'-H5375fourteenאַרְבַּ֣ע עֶשְׂרֵ֑ה'ar.Ba' 'es.RehH6240H702wivesנָשִׁ֖יםna.ShimH802,and begatוַיּ֗וֹלֶדvai.Yo.ledH3205twentyעֶשְׂרִ֤ים'es.RimH6242and twoוּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙u.she.Na.yimH8147sonsבָּנִ֔יםba.NimH1121,and sixteenוְשֵׁ֥שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֖הve.Shesh 'es.RehH6240H8337daughtersבָּנֽוֹת׃ סba.NotH1323.
