24So Davidדָּוִ֖דda.VidH1732hidוַיִּסָּתֵ֥רvai.yi.sa.TerH5641himself in the fieldבַּשָּׂדֶ֑הba.sa.DehH7704:and when the new moonהַחֹ֔דֶשׁha.Cho.deshH2320was come, the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sat him downוַיֵּ֧שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427to eatלֶאֱכֽוֹל׃le.'e.KholH398meatהַלֶּ֖חֶםha.Le.chemH3899.

25And the kingהַ֠מֶּלֶךְHa.Me.lekhH4428satוַיֵּ֣שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427upon his seatמ֨וֹשָׁב֜וֹmo.sha.VoH4186,as at other timesH6471, evenupon a seatמוֹשַׁב֙mo.ShavH4186by the wallהַקִּ֔ירha.KirH7023:and Jonathanיְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ןye.Ho.na.TanH3083aroseוַיָּ֙קָם֙vai.Ya.komH6965,and Abnerאַבְנֵ֖ר'av.NerH74satוַיֵּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427by Saul’sשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586sideמִצַּ֣דmi.TzadH6654,and David’sדָּוִֽד׃da.VidH1732placeמְק֥וֹםme.KomH4725was emptyוַיִּפָּקֵ֖דvai.yi.pa.KedH6485.

26Nevertheless Saulשָׁא֛וּלsha.'UlH7586spakeדִבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696not any thingמְא֖וּמָהme.'U.mahH3972that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117:for he thoughtאָמַר֙'a.MarH559,Something hath befallenמִקְרֶ֣הmik.RehH4745him, he isnotבִּלְתִּ֥יbil.TiH1115cleanטָה֛וֹרta.HorH2889; surely he isnot cleanטָהֽוֹר׃ סta.HorH2889.

27And it came to pass on the morrowמִֽמָּחֳרַ֤תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283, which wasthe secondהַשֵּׁנִ֔יha.she.NiH8145dayof the monthהַחֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ha.Cho.deshH2320,that David’sדָּוִ֑ד סda.VidH1732placeמְק֣וֹםme.KomH4725was emptyוַיִּפָּקֵ֖דvai.yi.pa.KedH6485:and Saulשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֣ןye.ho.na.TanH3083his sonבְּנ֔וֹbe.NoH1121,Wherefore comethבָ֧אva'H935not the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jesseיִשַׁ֛יyi.ShaiH3448to meatהַלָּֽחֶם׃ha.La.chemH3899,neither yesterdayתְּמ֥וֹלte.MolH8543,nor to dayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117?

28And Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֖ןye.ho.na.TanH3083answeredוַיַּ֥עַןvai.Ya.'anH6030Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586,Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732earnestlyנִשְׁאֹ֨לnish.'OlH7592askedנִשְׁאַ֥לnish.'AlH7592leaveof meמֵעִמָּדִ֖יme.'i.ma.DiH5978to goto Beth–lehemH1035:

29And he saidוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Let me goשַׁלְּחֵ֣נִיsha.le.Che.niH7971,I pray thee; for our familyמִשְׁפָּחָ֨הmish.pa.ChahH4940hath a sacrificeזֶבַח֩ze.VachH2077in the cityבָּעִ֗ירba.'IrH5892;and my brotherאָחִ֔י'a.ChiH251,he hath commandedצִוָּֽה־tzi.vah-H6680me to be there:and now, if I have foundמָצָ֤אתִיma.Tza.tiH4672favourחֵן֙chenH2580in thine eyesבְּעֵינֶ֔יךָbe.'ei.Nei.khaH5869,let me get awayאִמָּ֥לְטָה'i.Mal.tahH4422,I pray thee, and seeוְאֶרְאֶ֣הve.'er.'EhH7200my brethrenאֶחָ֑י'e.ChaiH251.Therefore he comethבָ֔אVa'H935not unto the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ סha.Me.lekhH4428tableשֻׁלְחַ֖ןshul.ChanH7979.

30Then Saul’sשָׁאוּל֙sha.'UlH7586angerאַ֤ף'afH639was kindledוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Jonathanבִּיה֣וֹנָתָ֔ןbi.Ho.na.TanH3083,and he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Thou sonבֶּֽן־ben-H1121of the perverseנַעֲוַ֖תna.'a.VatH5753rebelliousהַמַּרְדּ֑וּתha.mar.DutH4780woman,do not I knowיָדַ֗עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045that thou hast chosenבֹחֵ֤רvo.CherH977the sonלְבֶן־le.ven-H1121of Jesseיִשַׁ֔יyi.ShaiH3448to thine own confusionלְבָ֨שְׁתְּךָ֔le.Va.she.te.khaH1322,and unto the confusionוּלְבֹ֖שֶׁתu.le.Vo.shetH1322of thy mother’sאִמֶּֽךָ׃'i.Me.khaH517nakednessעֶרְוַ֥ת'er.VatH6172?

31For as long asהַיָּמִ֗יםhai.ya.MimH3117the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Jesseיִשַׁי֙yi.ShaiH3448livethחַ֣יchaiH2425upon the groundהָאֲדָמָ֔הha.'a.da.MahH127,thou shalt not be establishedתִכּ֖וֹןti.KonH3559,nor thy kingdomוּמַלְכוּתֶ֑ךָu.mal.khu.Te.khaH4438.Wherefore now sendשְׁלַ֨חshe.LachH7971and fetchוְקַ֤חve.KachH3947him unto me, for he shall surely dieבֶן־ מָ֖וֶתven- Ma.vetH4194 H1121.

32And Jonathanיְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ןye.Ho.na.TanH3083answeredוַיַּ֙עַן֙vai.Ya.'anH6030Saulשָׁא֖וּלsha.'UlH7586his fatherאָבִ֑יו'a.VivH1,and saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto him, Wherefore shall he be slainיוּמַ֖תyu.MatH4191?what hath he doneעָשָֽׂה׃'a.SahH6213?

33And Saulשָׁא֧וּלsha.'UlH7586castוַיָּ֨טֶלvai.Ya.telH2904a javelinהַחֲנִ֛יתha.cha.NitH2595at him to smiteלְהַכֹּת֑וֹle.ha.ko.ToH5221him: whereby Jonathanיְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ןye.Ho.na.TanH3083knewוַיֵּ֙דַע֙vai.Ye.da'H3045that it was determinedH3617of his fatherאָבִ֖יו'a.VivH1to slayלְהָמִ֥יתle.ha.MitH4191Davidדָּוִֽד׃ סda.VidH1732.

34So Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָ֛ןye.ho.na.TanH3083aroseוַיָּ֧קָםvai.Ya.komH6965from the tableהַשֻּׁלְחָ֖ןha.shul.ChanH7979in fierceבָּחֳרִי־bo.cho.ri-H2750angerאָ֑ף'AfH639,and did eatאָכַ֞ל'a.KhalH398no meatלֶ֔חֶםLe.chemH3899the secondהַשֵּׁנִי֙ha.she.NiH8145dayבְּיוֹם־be.yom-H3117of the monthהַחֹ֤דֶשׁha.Cho.deshH2320:for he was grievedנֶעְצַב֙ne'.TzavH6087for Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732,because his fatherאָבִֽיו׃ ס'a.VivH1had done him shameהִכְלִמ֖וֹhikh.li.MoH3637.
