Ruth 4:9-22
9At this, BoazH1162 saidH559 to the eldersH2205 and allH3605 the peopleH5971, “YouH859 are witnessesH5707 todayH3117 thatH3588 I am buyingH7069 fromH3027 NaomiH5281 allH3605 thatH834 belonged to ElimelechH458, ChilionH3630, and MahlonH4248. 10MoreoverH1571, I have acquiredH7069 RuthH7327 the MoabitessH4125, Mahlon’sH4248 widowH802, as my wifeH802, to raise upH6965 the nameH8034 of the deceasedH4191 throughH5921 his inheritanceH5159, so that hisH4191 nameH8034 will notH3808 disappearH3772 from amongH5973 his brothersH251 or from the gateH8179 of his homeH4725. YouH859 are witnesses todayH5707H3117.”
11“We are witnessesH5707,” saidH559 the eldersH2205 and allH3605 the peopleH5971 at the gateH8179. “May the LORDH3068 makeH5414 the womanH802 enteringH935H413 your homeH1004 like RachelH7354 and LeahH3812, whoH834 together built upH1129H8147 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478. May you beH6213 prosperousH2428 in EphrathahH672 and famousH7121H8034 in BethlehemH1035. 12And may your houseH1004 becomeH1961 like the houseH1004 of PerezH6557, whomH834 TamarH8559 boreH3205 to JudahH3063, because ofH4480 the offspringH2233 the LORDH3068 will giveH5414 you byH4480 thisH2063 young womanH5291.”
13So BoazH1162 tookH3947 RuthH7327, and she becameH1961 his wifeH802. And when he had relations withH935 herH413, the LORDH3068 enabledH5414 her to conceiveH2032, and she gave birth toH3205 a sonH1121.
14Then the womenH802 saidH559 toH413 NaomiH5281, “BlessedH1288 be the LORDH3068, whoH834 has notH3808 leftH7673 you this dayH3117 without a kinsman-redeemerH1350. May his nameH8034 become famousH7121 in IsraelH3478. 15He will renewH1961H7725 your lifeH5315 and sustain youH3557 in your old ageH7872. ForH3588 your daughter-in-lawH3618, whoH834 lovesH157 you and is betterH2896 to you than sevenH7651 sonsH1121, has given him birthH3205.”
16And NaomiH5281 tookH3947 the childH3206, placed himH7896 on her lapH2436, and becameH1961 a nurseH539 to him. 17The neighborH7934 women saidH559, “A sonH1121 has been bornH3205 to NaomiH5281H7121H8034,” and they namedH7121 him ObedH5744. HeH1931 became the fatherH1 of JesseH3448, the fatherH1 of DavidH1732.
18Now theseH428 are the generationsH8435 of PerezH6557:
PerezH6557 was the father ofH3205 HezronH2696, 19HezronH2696 was the father ofH3205 RamH7410, RamH7410 was the father ofH3205 AmminadabH5992, 20AmminadabH5992 was the father ofH3205 NahshonH5177, NahshonH5177 was the father ofH3205 SalmonH8009,1 21SalmonH8012 was the father ofH3205 BoazH1162, BoazH1162 was the father ofH3205 ObedH5744, 22ObedH5744 was the father ofH3205 JesseH3448, and JesseH3448 was the father ofH3205 DavidH1732.
