Numbers 32
Revised Version 1895
1NowH1961 the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 and the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 had a veryH3966 greatH3966 multitude of cattleH4735: and when they sawH7200 the landH776 of JazerH3270, and the landH776 of GileadH1568, that, beholdH2009, the placeH4725 was a placeH4725 for cattleH4735; 2the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 cameH935 and spake unto MosesH4872, and to EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and unto the princesH5387 of the congregationH5712, sayingH559, 3AtarothH5852, and DibonH1769, and JazerH3270, and NimrahH5247, and HeshbonH2809, and ElealehH500, and SebamH7643, and NeboH5015, and BeonH1194, 4the landH776 whichH834 the LORDH3068 smoteH5221 beforeH6440 the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, is a landH776 for cattleH4735, and thy servantsH5650 have cattleH4735. 5And they saidH559, IfH518 weH518 have foundH4672 graceH2580 in thy sightH5869, letH5414 this landH776 be givenH5414 unto thy servantsH5650 for a possessionH272; bringH5414 usH5414 notH408 over JordanH3383. 6And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and to the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205, Shall your brethrenH251 goH935 to the warH4421, and shall ye sitH3427 hereH6311? 7And wherefore discourage ye the heartH3820 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 from going over intoH413 the landH776 whichH834 the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414 them? 8ThusH3541 didH6213 your fathersH1, when I sentH7971 them from Kadesh-barneaH6947 to seeH7200 the landH776. 9For when they wentH935 upH5927 unto the valleyH5158 of EshcolH812, and sawH7200 the landH776, they discouraged the heartH3820 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, that they should notH1115 goH935 intoH413 the landH776 whichH834 the LORDH3068 had givenH5414 them. 10And the LORD’SH3068 angerH639 was kindledH2734 in that dayH3117, and he sware, sayingH559, 11SurelyH3588 noneH3808 of the menH376 that cameH5927 upH5927 outH7200 of EgyptH4714, from twentyH6242 yearsH8141 oldH1121 and upwardH4605, shall seeH7200 the landH127 whichH834 I sware unto AbrahamH85, unto IsaacH3327, and unto JacobH3290; becauseH3588 they have notH3808 wholly followedH310 meH310: 12save CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 the KenizziteH7074, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126: becauseH3588 they have wholly followedH310 the LORDH3068. 13And the LORD’SH3068 angerH639 was kindledH2734 againstH2734 IsraelH3478, and he madeH6213 them wanderH5128 to and froH5128 in the wildernessH4057 fortyH705 yearsH8141, untilH5704 allH3605 the generationH1755, that had doneH6213 evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, was consumedH8552. 14And, beholdH2009, ye are risenH6965 upH6965 in your fathers’H1 steadH8478, an increase of sinfulH2400 menH376, to augment yet the fierceH2740 angerH639 of the LORDH3068 towardH413 IsraelH3478. 15For ifH3588 ye turnH7725 awayH7725 from afterH310 him, he will yet againH5750 leaveH3240 them in the wildernessH4057; and ye shall destroyH7843 allH3605 this peopleH5971. 16And they cameH5066 nearH5066 unto him, and saidH559, We will buildH1129 sheepfoldsH1448 hereH6311 for our cattleH4735, and citiesH5892 for our littleH2945 onesH2945: 17but weH587 ourselvesH587 will be ready armedH2502 to goH935 beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, untilH5704 weH587 have broughtH935 them unto their placeH4725: and our littleH2945 onesH2945 shall dwellH3427 in the fenced citiesH5892 becauseH834 of the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776. 18WeH5704 will notH3808 returnH7725 unto our housesH1004, untilH5704 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 have inheritedH5157 everyH376 manH376 his inheritanceH5159. 19For weH3588 will notH3808 inheritH5157 with them on the otherH5676 sideH5676 JordanH3383, and forwardH935; becauseH3588 our inheritanceH5159 is fallenH935 to usH413 on this sideH5676 JordanH3383 eastwardH4217. 20And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto them, IfH518 ye will doH6213 this thingH1697; IfH518 ye will arm yourselves to go beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 to the warH4421, 21and everyH3605 armedH2502 manH3605 of youH3605 will passH5674 over JordanH3383 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, untilH5704 he hath drivenH3423 outH3423 his enemiesH341 from beforeH6440 him, 22and the landH776 be subduedH3533 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: then afterwardH310 ye shall returnH7725, and be guiltless towards the LORDH3068, and towards IsraelH3478; and this landH776 shall be unto youH6440 for a possessionH272 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. 23But ifH518 ye will notH3808 doH6213 soH3651, beholdH2009, ye have sinnedH2398 againstH2398 the LORDH3068: and be sureH3045 your sinH2398 will findH4672 youH834 outH3045. 24BuildH1129 youH6213 citiesH5892 for your littleH2945 onesH2945, and foldsH1448 for your sheepH6792; and doH6213 that which hath proceededH3318 outH3318 of your mouthH6310. 25And the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 spake unto MosesH4872, sayingH559, Thy servantsH5650 will doH6213 as my lordH113 commandeth. 26Our littleH2945 onesH2945, our wivesH802, our flocksH4735, and allH3605 our cattleH929, shall be there in the citiesH5892 of GileadH1568: 27but thy servantsH5650 will passH5674 over, everyH3605 manH3605 that is armedH2502 for warH4421, beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 to battleH4421, as my lordH3068 saith. 28SoH6680 MosesH4872 gaveH6680 chargeH6680 concerning them to EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and to JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and to the headsH7218 of the fathers’H1 houses of the tribesH4294 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. 29And MosesH4872 saidH559 unto them, IfH518 the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 will passH5674 with youH5414 over JordanH3383, everyH3605 manH1121 that is armedH2502 to battleH4421, beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and the landH776 shall be subduedH3533 beforeH6440 youH5414; then ye shall giveH5414 them the landH776 of GileadH1568 for a possessionH272: 30but ifH518 they will notH3808 passH5674 over with youH518 armedH2502, they shall have possessionsH270 among youH518 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667. 31And the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 and the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 answeredH559, sayingH559, As the LORDH3068 hath saidH559 unto thy servantsH5650, soH3651 will weH834 doH6213. 32WeH5168 will passH5674 over armedH2502 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 intoH776 the landH776 of CanaanH3667, and the possessionH272 of our inheritanceH5159 shall remain with usH6440 beyondH5676 JordanH3383. 33And MosesH4872 gaveH5414 unto them, evenH853 to the childrenH1121 of GadH1410, and to the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205, and unto the halfH2677 tribeH7626 of ManassehH4519 the sonH1121 of JosephH3130, the kingdomH4467 of SihonH5511 kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, and the kingdomH4467 of OgH5747 kingH4428 of BashanH1316, the landH776, according to the citiesH5892 thereof with their bordersH1367, evenH853 the citiesH5892 of the landH776 roundH5439 aboutH5439. 34And the childrenH1121 of GadH1410 builtH1129 DibonH1769, and AtarothH5852, and AroerH6177; 35and Atroth-shophanH5855, and JazerH3270, and JogbehahH3011; 36and Beth-nimrahH1039, and Beth-haran: fenced citiesH5892, and foldsH1448 for sheepH6629. 37And the childrenH1121 of ReubenH7205 builtH1129 HeshbonH2809, and ElealehH500, and KiriathaimH7156; 38and NeboH5015, and Baal-meonH1186, (their namesH8034 beingH8034 changedH5437,) and SibmahH7643: and gaveH7121 other namesH8034 unto the citiesH5892 whichH834 they builded. 39And the childrenH1121 of MachirH4353 the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519 went to GileadH1568, and tookH3920 it, and dispossessedH3423 the AmoritesH567 whichH834 were therein. 40And MosesH4872 gaveH5414 GileadH1568 unto MachirH4353 the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519; and he dweltH3427 therein. 41And JairH2971 the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519 wentH1980 and tookH3920 the townsH2333 thereof, and calledH7121 them Havvoth-jairH2334. 42And NobahH5025 wentH1980 and tookH3920 KenathH7079, and the villagesH1323 thereof, and calledH7121 it NobahH5025, afterH5025 his own nameH8034.
