Revised Version 1895
Numbers 16:29-50
29IfH518 theseH428 menH120 dieH4191 the common deathH4191 of allH3605 menH120, or ifH518 they be visitedH6485 afterH5921 the visitation of allH3605 menH120; then the LORDH3068 hath notH3808 sentH7971 meH7971. 30But ifH518 the LORDH3068 makeH3045 a newH1278 thingH3588, and the groundH127 openH6475 herH3605 mouthH6310, and swallowH1104 them upH1104, with allH3605 that appertain unto them, and they goH3381 downH3381 aliveH2416 intoH376 the pit; then ye shall understandH3045 that theseH428 menH376 have despisedH5006 the LORDH3068. 31And it cameH1961 to passH1961, as he madeH1696 an endH3615 of speakingH1696 allH3605 theseH428 wordsH1697, that the groundH127 clave asunder that was underH8478 them: 32and the earthH776 openedH6605 herH3605 mouthH6310, and swallowedH1104 them upH1104, and their householdsH1004, and allH3605 the menH120 that appertained unto KorahH7141, and allH3605 their goodsH7399. 33SoH834 they, and allH3605 that appertained to them, wentH3381 downH3381 aliveH2416 intoH8432 the pit: and the earthH776 closedH3680 uponH5921 them, and they perishedH6 from among the assemblyH6951. 34And allH3605 IsraelH3478 that were roundH5439 aboutH5439 them fledH5127 at the cryH6963 of them: for they saidH559, LestH6435 the earthH776 swallowH1104 usH3588 upH1104. 35And fireH784 cameH3318 forthH3318 from the LORDH3068, and devouredH398 the twoH3967 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572 menH376 that offeredH7126 the incenseH7004. 36And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 37Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are holy; 38even the censers of these sinners against their own lives, and let them be made beaten plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are holy: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel. 39And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, which they that were burnt had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar: 40to be a memorial unto the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to burn incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD spake unto him by the hand of Moses. 41But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD. 42And it came to pass, when the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tent of meeting: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared. 43And Moses and Aaron came to the front of the tent of meeting. 44And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 45Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces. 46And Moses said unto Aaron, Take thy censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and lay incense thereon, and carry it quickly unto the congregation, and make atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. 47And Aaron took as Moses spake, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on the incense, and made atonement for the people. 48And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. 49Now they that died by the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, besides them that died about the matter of Korah. 50And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tent of meeting: and the plague was stayed.
