2 Samuel 15:1-19
1And it cameH1961 to passH1961 afterH310 this, that AbsalomH53 preparedH6213 him a chariotH4818 and horsesH5483, and fiftyH2572 menH376 to runH7323 beforeH6440 him.
2And AbsalomH53 roseH7925 upH7925 earlyH7925, and stoodH5975 besideH5921 the wayH1870 of the gateH8179: and it was soH7121, that when anyH3605 manH376 had a suitH7379 whichH834 should comeH935 to the kingH4428 for judgmentH4941, then AbsalomH53 calledH7121 unto him, and saidH559, Of whatH834 cityH5892 art thou? And he saidH559, Thy servantH5650 is of one of the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478.
3And AbsalomH53 saidH559 unto him, SeeH7200, thy mattersH1697 are goodH2896 and rightH5228; but there is noH369 manH369 deputed of the kingH4428 to hearH8085 thee.
4AbsalomH53 saidH559 moreoverH1961, OhH4310 that I were madeH7760 judgeH8199 in the landH776, that everyH3605 manH376 whichH834 hath anyH3605 suitH7379 or causeH7379 might comeH935 unto meH5921, and I would doH4310 him justiceH4941!
5And it was soH7971, that when anyH376 manH376 cameH1961 nigh to doH3027 him obeisance, he putH7971 forthH7971 his handH3027, and tookH2388 holdH2388 of him, and kissedH5401 him.
6And on this mannerH1697 didH6213 AbsalomH53 to allH3605 IsraelH3478 that cameH935 to the kingH4428 for judgmentH4941: soH6213 AbsalomH53 stoleH1589 the heartsH3820 of the menH376 of IsraelH3478.
7And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at the endH7093 of fortyH705 yearsH8141, that AbsalomH53 saidH559 unto the kingH4428, I prayH4994 thee, letH4994 meH413 goH1961 and payH7999 my vowH5088, whichH834 I have vowedH5087 unto the LORDH3068, in HebronH2275.
8For thy servantH5650 vowedH5087 a vowH5088 whileH3588 I abodeH3427 at GeshurH1650 in SyriaH758, sayingH559, IfH518 the LORDH3068 shall indeedH3588 bringH7725 meH7725 againH7725 to JerusalemH3389, then I will serveH5647 the LORDH3068.
9And the kingH4428 saidH559 unto him, GoH6965 in peaceH7965. SoH6965 he aroseH6965, and wentH6965 to HebronH2275.
10But AbsalomH53 sentH7971 spiesH7270 throughoutH3605 allH3605 the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, As soon as ye hearH8085 the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782, then ye shall sayH559, AbsalomH53 is kingH4427 in HebronH2275.
11And with AbsalomH53 wentH1980 twoH3808 hundredH3967 menH376 outH3045 of JerusalemH3389, that were invitedH7121, and wentH1980 in their simplicity; and they knewH3045 notH3808 anyH3605 thingH1697.
12And AbsalomH53 sentH7971 for AhithophelH302 the GiloniteH1526, David’sH1732 counsellor, from his cityH5892, evenH853 from GilohH1542, whileH1961 he offeredH2076 the sacrificesH2077. And the conspiracyH7195 was strongH533; for the peopleH5971 increased continuallyH1980 with AbsalomH53.
13And there cameH935 a messengerH5046 to DavidH1732, sayingH559, The heartsH3820 of the menH376 of IsraelH3478 are afterH310 AbsalomH53.
14And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto allH3605 his servantsH5650 that were with him at JerusalemH3389, AriseH6965, and letH1961 usH5921 fleeH1272; for elseH6435 noneH3808 of usH5921 shall escapeH6413 from AbsalomH53: makeH6965 speedH4116 to depart, lestH6435 he overtakeH5381 usH5921 quicklyH4116, and bringH4116 downH5221 evilH7451 uponH5921 usH5921, and smiteH5221 the cityH5892 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719.
15And the king’sH4428 servantsH5650 saidH559 unto the kingH4428, BeholdH2009 thy servantsH5650 are ready to doH3605 whatsoeverH3605 my lordH113 the kingH4428 shall chooseH977.
16And the kingH4428 wentH3318 forthH3318, and allH3605 his householdH1004 afterH7272 him, And the kingH4428 leftH3318 tenH6235 womenH802, whichH802 were concubinesH6370, to keepH8104 the houseH1004.
17And the kingH4428 wentH3318 forthH3318, and allH3605 the peopleH5971 afterH7272 him; and they tarried in Beth-merhak.
18And allH3605 his servantsH5650 passedH5674 on besideH5921 him; and allH3605 the CherethitesH3774, and allH3605 the PelethitesH6432, and allH3605 the GittitesH1663, sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376 whichH834 cameH935 afterH5921 him from GathH1661, passedH5674 on beforeH6440 the kingH4428.
19Then saidH559 the kingH4428 to IttaiH863 the GittiteH1663, Wherefore goest thou also with usH413? returnH7725, and abideH3427 with the kingH4428: for thou art a strangerH5237, and also an exileH1540; returnH7725 to thine ownH5973 placeH4725.
