2 Kings 23:1-25
1And the kingH4428 sentH7971, and they gatheredH622 unto him allH3605 the eldersH2205 of JudahH3063 and of JerusalemH3389.
2And the kingH4428 wentH5927 upH5927 to the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and allH3605 the menH376 of JudahH3063 and allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 with him, and the priestsH3548, and the prophetsH5030, and allH3605 the peopleH5971, bothH3605 smallH6996 and greatH1419: and he readH7121 in their earsH241 allH3605 the wordsH1697 of the bookH5612 of the covenantH1285 whichH1697 was foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
3And the kingH4428 stoodH5975 by the pillarH5982, and madeH3772 a covenantH1285 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, to walk afterH310 the LORDH3068, and to keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687, and his testimoniesH5715, and his statutesH2708, with allH3605 his heartH3820, and allH3605 his soulH5315, to confirmH6965 the wordsH1697 of this covenantH1285 that were writtenH3789 in this bookH5612: and allH3605 the peopleH5971 stoodH5975 to the covenantH1285.
4And the kingH4428 commandedH6680 HilkiahH2518 the highH1419 priestH3548, and the priestsH3548 of the secondH4932 orderH6680, and the keepersH8104 of the door, to bringH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068 allH3605 the vesselsH3627 that were madeH6213 for BaalH1168, and for the AsherahH842, and for allH3605 the hostH6635 of heavenH8064: and he burnedH8313 them without JerusalemH3389 in the fieldsH7709 of KidronH6939, and carriedH5375 the ashesH6083 of them unto Beth-el.
5And he putH5414 downH5414 the idolatrousH3649 priestsH3649, whomH834 the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 had ordained to burnH6999 incenseH6999 in the highH1116 placesH1116 in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and in the placesH1116 roundH4524 aboutH4428 JerusalemH3389; them also that burnedH6999 incenseH6999 unto BaalH1168, to the sunH8121, and to the moonH3394, and to the planets, and to allH3605 the hostH6635 of heavenH8064.
6And he broughtH3318 outH3318 the AsherahH842 from the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, without JerusalemH3389, unto the brookH5158 KidronH6939, and burnedH8313 it at the brookH5158 KidronH6939, and stamped it small to powderH1854, and castH7993 the powderH1854 thereof uponH5921 the gravesH6913 of the commonH1121 peopleH5971.
7And he brake downH5422 the housesH1004 of the sodomitesH6945, that were in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, whereH834 the womenH802 wove hangingsH1004 for the AsherahH842.
8And he broughtH935 allH3605 the priestsH3548 outH5921 of the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and defiledH2930 the highH1116 placesH1116 whereH834 the priestsH3548 had burnedH6999 incenseH6999, from GebaH1387 to Beer-sheba; and he brake downH5422 the highH1116 placesH1116 of the gatesH8179 that were at the enteringH935 in of the gateH8179 of JoshuaH3091 the governorH8269 of the cityH5892, whichH834 were on a man’sH376 leftH8040 handH8040 at the gateH8179 of the cityH5892.
9NeverthelessH389 the priestsH3548 of the highH1116 placesH1116 cameH5927 notH3808 upH5927 to the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068 in JerusalemH3389, but they didH3808 eatH398 unleavenedH4682 breadH4682 among their brethrenH251.
10And he defiledH2930 TophethH8612, whichH834 is in the valleyH1516 of the childrenH1121 of HinnomH2011, that noH1115 manH376 might makeH2930 his sonH1121 or his daughterH1323 to passH5674 throughH5674 the fireH784 to MolechH4432.
11And he tookH853 awayH935 the horsesH5483 that the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 had givenH5414 to the sunH8121, at the enteringH935 in of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, by the chamberH3957 of Nathan-melechH5419 the chamberlain, whichH834 was in the precinctsH6503; and he burnedH8313 the chariotsH4818 of the sunH8121 with fireH784.
12And the altarsH4196 that were on the roofH1406 of the upperH5944 chamberH5944 of AhazH271, whichH834 the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 had madeH6213, and the altarsH4196 whichH834 ManassehH4519 had madeH6213 in the twoH8147 courts of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, didH6213 the kingH4428 breakH5422 downH5422, and beat them downH5422 from thence, and castH7993 the dustH6083 of them intoH413 the brookH5158 KidronH6939.
13And the highH1116 placesH1116 that were beforeH6440 JerusalemH3389, whichH834 were on the rightH3225 handH3225 of the mountH2022 of corruption, whichH834 SolomonH8010 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 had builded for Ashtoreth the abominationH8441 of the Zidonians, and for ChemoshH3645 the abominationH8441 of MoabH4124, and for MilcomH4445 the abominationH8441 of the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983, didH834 the kingH4428 defileH2930.
14And he brake in piecesH7665 the pillarsH4676, and cutH3772 downH3772 the AsherimH842, and filledH4390 their placesH4725 with the bonesH6106 of menH120.
15MoreoverH1571 the altarH4196 that was at Beth-el, and the highH1116 placeH1116 whichH834 JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, who madeH6213 IsraelH3478 to sinH2398, had madeH6213, evenH1571 that altarH4196 and the highH1116 placeH1116 he brake downH5422; and he burnedH8313 the highH1116 placeH1116 and stamped it small to powderH1854, and burnedH8313 the AsherahH842.
16And as JosiahH2977 turnedH6437 himselfH2930, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mountH2022; and he sentH7971, and tookH3947 the bonesH6106 outH4480 of the sepulchres, and burnedH8313 them uponH5921 the altarH4196, and defiledH2930 it, accordingH5921 to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 whichH834 the manH376 of GodH430 proclaimedH7121, who proclaimedH7121 theseH428 things.
17Then he saidH559, WhatH4100 monumentH6725 is that whichH834 I seeH7200? And the menH376 of the cityH5892 toldH559 him, It is the sepulchre of the manH376 of GodH430, whichH834 cameH935 from JudahH3063, and proclaimedH7121 theseH428 things that thou hast doneH6213 againstH5921 the altarH4196 of Beth-el.
18And he saidH559, LetH408 him be; letH408 noH408 manH376 move his bonesH6106. SoH834 they letH408 his bonesH6106 alone, with the bonesH6106 of the prophetH5030 that cameH935 outH376 of SamariaH8111.
19And allH3605 the housesH1004 also of the highH1116 placesH1116 that were in the citiesH5892 of SamariaH8111, whichH834 the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 had madeH6213 to provokeH3707 the LORD to angerH3707, JosiahH2977 tookH5493 awayH5493, and didH6213 to them according to allH3605 the actsH6213 that he had doneH6213 in Beth-el.
20And he slew allH3605 the priestsH3548 of the highH1116 placesH1116 that were there, uponH5921 the altarsH4196, and burnedH8313 men’sH120 bonesH6106 uponH5921 them; and he returnedH7725 to JerusalemH3389.
21And the kingH4428 commandedH6680 allH3605 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, KeepH6213 the passoverH6453 unto the LORDH3068 your GodH430, as it is writtenH3789 in this bookH5612 of the covenantH1285.
22SurelyH3588 there was notH3808 keptH6213 suchH2088 a passoverH6453 from the daysH3117 of the judgesH8199 that judgedH8199 IsraelH3478, norH3808 in allH3605 the daysH3117 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478, norH3808 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063;
23but in the eighteenthH6240 yearH8141 of kingH4428 JosiahH2977 was this passoverH6453 keptH6213 to the LORDH3068 in JerusalemH3389.
24MoreoverH1571 them that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the teraphimH8655, and the idolsH1544, and allH3605 the abominationsH8251 that were spiedH1004 in the landH776 of JudahH3063 and in JerusalemH3389, didH834 JosiahH2977 put awayH3605, that he might confirmH6965 the wordsH1697 of the lawH8451 whichH834 were writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 that HilkiahH2518 the priestH3548 foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
25And like unto him was there noH3808 kingH4428 beforeH6440 him, that turnedH7725 to the LORDH3068 with allH3605 his heartH3824, and with allH3605 his soulH5315, and with allH3605 his might, accordingH413 to allH3605 the lawH8451 of MosesH4872; neitherH3808 afterH310 him aroseH6965 there anyH3605 like him.
